Southampton post match thread

Being a city fan you know it's not as simple as that.

You are being a bit over the top in my opinion. It's not been a vintage season but we have won 5 trophies since 2011 and are in a champions league semi with a nice new stand, another one about to be built and pep coming in as manager. We have some descent youth players, will buy some class in the summer and are about to say goodbye to some club legends in yaya and zab. Be happy!

But where's the direction ? ;-)

It's a mentality problem that seems to run through the whole club at senior playing level, we have a manager who doesn't come across as a disciplnarian and is tactically stunted-it's one big fucking jolly for too many allegedly plying there trade as footballers at this club.

Until we have some homegrown players who have done the hard yards and have some affinity to this club and a manager with the balls to make drastic changes then it will be rinse and repeat for a good while yet. Pep won't be staying long enough to change this clubs mentality , he will be off back to Spain holding Txikis hand in three years mark my words.

Win a league, do fuck all, win a league, do fuck all.

Yawn yawn fucking yawn.

Tottenham and Leicester have made us look like fucking amateurs this season and the whole club should be fucking ashamed of itself .

Fight to the end my arse, we are a club lacking direction.
You make some good points but where i can't agree is what will happen when Guardiola takes over, i think the clubs mentality will change almost overnight, a strong, tactically astute, first class man motivator who is obssessive to the minute detail will radically overhaul the lethargy that Pellegrini has created and will inspire and bring out the best in a squad which is going through the motions and the deadwood will be cut adrift ,w'ell finally be managed by top quality.

Since Txiki has turned up have we moved forward on the pitch? Does throwing another £200m at it make you happy? It's hardly a footballing model is it.

Why do you continually mention the money we've spent as if you're auditioning for a job on Sky or BT sports?

Anyway, having a footballing model isn't something which is implemented overnight. You don't turn up and say "I want to play possession based attacking football" and snap your fingers and it's done. It takes time. We have made CLEAR progress in the CL since Pellegrini came in. None of the abortive campaigns we've previously had. That is a direct result of being a better side in terms of the football we play and how we play it.

Txiki has delivered Guardiola, De Bruyne, Sterling, and Otamendi since our FFP restrictions have been lifted. At the end of this summer i suspect his transfer record will look significantly different to how it looks now. That's not saying he hasn't made mistakes, because he has. No one is perfect.

Questionable how successful the acquisition of Otamendi has been and Sterling has been average at best since his move. De Bruyne and Fernandinho are Txiki's only worthwhile signings. The rest are either debatable or downright rubbish
