Southampton post match thread

Some of the players getting slated and probably rightly so ... but it's Manuel's ineptitude that drives me crazy. Even if the notion that he doesn't really care about next season has some truth to it, that still doesn't explain why he clings to these ludicrous tactics? He deliberately set us up to get beat today by playing a 442 with Bony up front. A 4231 with Nacho leading the line and Nasri in the hole would have put us right in the frame. I'm genuinely baffled as to why he puts out such dopey formations. It's like some fuckwit in the casino doubling, tripling, quadrupling down at the roulette table because he is certain the wife's birthday is going to come good at some point.

I think it's more about his bonus. I would think he stands to collect a very nice pay day should we get to the CL final, human nature dictates that he will prioritise in this regard, so not sabotage but selfishly motivated nonetheless and some wouldn't blame him ....(I'm not one of them though)

I doubt it's the bonus but more the glory of getting City to our first CL final. So yeah it gets priority. But by Christ Pellers hasn't half screwed up this league campaign. I don't mind him prioritising the CL but there is no excuse for flushing the league down the toilet. If we showed a fraction of our CL game management in the PL we wouldn't be shitting it over a top 4 spot right now.

you think getting to a final is more important to finishing as high in the league as you can? ok..i disagree (we should really be doing both and i think we would agree on that...and Mp's poor management of the season has led us to this point.

For our long term progression being in the comp next year is more important than getting to a final (where the other two opponents are vastly superior to us anyway)....fail to gt top 4 and are progression as a team will be halted and a year of Pep's manaagmet will be wasted in the europa league and struggling to attract the best players who want champs league

Can anyone explain to me why Aguero was on the bench? Given that Kompany and DeBryune were completely omitted from the squad I can only assume he was on the bench in case things were going wrong and we needed a goal. That being the case then surely you would bring him on when we went 2:0 down, if not then certainly at half time otherwise what is the point of him being on the bench?
As for his substitutions the less said the better, he may be a charming man but he is also a fucking clown at times.
 
delph thinks he is some kind of midfield general, but he is one lazy git ,fuming with him and lots more , besides,,sterling doing his little jack horner hiding in the corner,why are we going to saints,with 2 up top ,its arrogant and wrong, oh well only 2 more prem games to go

Ah, now I think what you're doing is prioritising the premier league above all else, and dismissing the trophy we've already won, and getting to the last 4 in Europe.
And I agree with you.
 
How the fucking hell can you score a goal when you never have a shot on goal, hold your head in shame again Wilfred Bony. Please someone tell me when was the last time this waste of space in our team actually had a shot on goal (not when was the last time he scored a goal) answers on a postcard please.

Yeah I've given up working out what Pellers is trying to do in our league games. Apart from stuff it up when it matters.

Pretty much all season mate! At least @blueinsa has acknowledged that Manuel has been shambolic most of the season? You have banged the same drum about him being harshly treated etc! The guy had took us backwards and the players here with him! The regression in this squad is to be honest quite frightening

We were crying out for a change after 10 minutes today. An extra body in midfield. Anything. The fact he made no subs at half time either says he's too stubborn or too stupid to see what's happening in front of him.

Or he already knew the players out there didn't care less as many of them wont be here next season. Not many were slating the team selection in the pre match thread, yet many are here now saying it was the wrong team. IMO, the blame today lies 100% on the players.
