draw for you lot yesterday was fine as none of top teams including us we get it easy at their place. it away points you dropped at sunderland, villa and cardiff that have cost you so far.
Yes I agree. And the impact of those results will fade as the season progresses. That is what City fans must hope for. 4 points from 6 away, on the back of our home form is good

Agree but you still got to go on strong run to keep pressure on us. That starts by beating us next week and then going on winning run from then on aginst fulhsm, liverpool and palace.
Don't see why we have to do it all at once?

What's wrong with steady improvement in results away from home over the course of the season

You can beat us at the Etihad and win today, and it wont knock us out whatever the doom-mongers might say.

As I keep reminding you, you beat us 1-0 at the Emirates and we were 8 points behind Utd with the season almost over and we still did it

You seem a little insecure if you don't mind me saying so. You don't need to worry about City and what we do if you have so much confidence in your own team over the long term

People are getting carried away by Arsenal just wait and see how things pan out there is still a lot of football to be played
Agreed. Besides we have our magician returning against them next weekend. Lets see how they handle Merlin. I actually think that we have coped well considering he is very close to being our best player.

In relation to last nights game, there are a number of ways of looking at it. It was an improvement on last seasons debacle. In the context of what will probably be a long and close season the point might prove to be invaluable. Also I don't think Nasri was quite as sharp as he has been he has been in the past few games. That made a difference.

I also think that there is a persuasive case to adopt 4-2-3-1 for many of the away games. Playing Kun and Alvaro up top in a 4-4-2 formation led to us being swamped in midfield. At stages they seemed to have more players on the park than us. I hope MP does adapt. He did so in the Chelsea game and it worked effectively. It's simply the case that on occasions we need the extra body in midfield.

Prior to the game their Manager said they were going to press us high up the park and swamp the midfield. It seems that we remain vulnerable to this while we continue to play 2 strikers.

I remain a fan of MP. I have seen sublime football played by this team this season, even better than the Championship season. If we don't sort out some of the issues about formation this season for one reason or another, you can bet we will be an even better team next season, once Txiki works his magic in the transfer market again.

Great post, agree completely.

A draw is not a bad result at Southampton.

Arsenal will fall off the wagon soon. We just need to stay there or there abouts.

It's a poor result. Given their absentees, the way we were outplayed, our title hopes, and the wider context of our away form.

Lets no gloss over this, we were shite yesterday. An attitude which sees us accept such performances, and seek excuses, will see us spectators as Arsenal or Chelsea win the league.

Which would be fine if Southampton were at full strength but they weren't, 2 points lost for me.

We were outplayed were we?

Conceded 4 shots on target, and 8 in total. We had the better chances. They had marginally more possession and were in the ascendancy as the game wore on. Close fought game.

We also had absentees - one being the best midfield player in the Premiership

For me the problem wasn't whether we were outplayed or who had more possession, it was that overall
we didn't play very well. Our passing ( and that's everyone) was well off after the initial 15 minutes.
Up till the goal, when Southampton pressed we looked calm and measured on the ball. Players got their
foot on the ball and passed it past the pressers. After that we seem to get nervous and just lump the
ball forward, straight back to Southampton. Not a good performance by any means, but could turn out
to be a good result.

I agree & so does Pellegrini.

We had no problems at all with Southampton, they tried to press us but we just knocked it around them, scored, should have scored two or three more, then we just stopped passing properly & the whole team dropped several levels.

Form then on we were poor & second best in all areas & indeed, a point is probably a good result for a team playing so badly.

I'm sorry but according to statistics Spurs were the better team against us but we all know what happened there.

If you don't think we were outplayed and 'outcoached' then you either didn't watch the match or have the blue-est of tinted specs.
