The current law is -

The maximum prison sentence for carrying a knife is four years, but if you use the knife in a crime or to injure someone the penalties are a lot worse. Under 'joint enterprise' rules, prosecutors also have the power to bring before the courts people who were present when a crime was committed so that all face the same serious charges

Agree on longer sentencing but i don't think it will make much of a difference when they're currently risking 4 years inside anyway.

It’s all well and good spouting maximum sentences but the truth is they are hardly if ever given out and people serve half the prescribed punishment. Prisons are a soft touch and a badge of honour for some of these feral cunts.

The thing is Nobody is getting 4 years, Most are given suspended sentences or community order tags

Start Right Now, Show a new campaign and make it very clear you will be going to prison for 4 years. No if buts or maybes, Carrying a knife is intent to Murder

if you look at the stats It was worse in the mid 90's, A lot was done with inner city scheme's to help reduce gang culture. those schemes were killed in Austerity and no surprise 10-15 years later we're back to where we were with Gang culture and knife crime. one main difference now is reporting. it gets a lot more airtime than it did due to social media and camera's everwhere.


to me the only way to fix it is to treat the problem not the symptom. and even then you will always still have anomalies, this doesn't seem to be your standard gang incident for sure.
 
Holding out hope that no one has lost their life, I saw the echo story but nothing confirmed on BBC.

Just a gut feeling that this cnut will end up in a secure mental unit rather than a prison cell, Im with you though. He should be getting the shit kicked out of him every hour of every day.

I get your sentiment regarding the army but i honestly don’t think the British Army deserve scum. Make a prison a prison not an air bnb , I got slated on here a couple of years ago what prison should be. This has affected too many lives over the years .
It must stop and has got to stop too many innocent families getting ruined . 6ft x 6ft cell . Let them rot they bring nothing to society but pain and misery.
 
For all the talk of long prison sentences don't forget that it was only last week that there was talk of cutting peoples sentences as the prisons are full.

As a country we are completely fucked, we have thousands upon thousands of people with no moral compass who feel the world owes them everything without them putting anything back into society.

It is only going to get worse, I dread to think what sort of country my grandkids will have to grow up in.

Surely it is only a matter of time now before the human experiment comes to a shuddering halt, time to start again. We were a good idea that went tits up.
 
This is just awful. My two love Taylor Swift, anything like that round here and they'd be absolutely wanting to go especially during the summer holidays.

I read there was one fatality, but I truly hope that is not the case. I can't begin to understand how suc a sick mind could do something so evil against kids. I hope they keep the perpetrator alive in eternal agony for decades. Study his brain in situ, horrible evil bastard.

As it seems he’s a juvenile his identity won’t be released.

Often arresting somebody under TACT (terrorism act) is used at the outset because it gives police much longer to deal with someone -14 days as opposed to 24 hours (plus various extensions taking it up to 4 days).
