Sparta fans were a bit nuttier than I was expecting
10/10 scarf routine coordination. Even the upper tier was in time.Sparta fans were a bit nuttier than I was expecting
Did anyone tell them their team lost 5 nil? They weren't watching the game, just the conductor!
I don't get it. It's not about football. The stadium is just a venue for their organised and choregraphed choir singing/chanting.
True. I've thought it for a while and it hit me when we scored our first, very disrespectfully, in the middle of one of their routines. They didn't miss a beat and continued. I would have been suicidal for a split second and then blamed Mahrez. Each to their own,Agree. The point is, to me, that chanting and suchlike has an organic relation to what's going on out on the pitch. Or it should.
I'd be quite uncomfortable with a regimented form of chanting at City, or anywhere in England for that matter. Makes me think of the Busby Berkeley musicals from the 1930s (look at the clip from “Lullaby of Broadway” on Youtube and you'll understand exactly what I mean). Or — with a more sinister shade of meaning — the Nuremberg Rallies.
I think, though, that fans from these smaller European clubs are just going for a good time, and a European jaunt. The match is entirely secondary. Up to a point, I can respect that.
The fact they kept jumping up and down when Foden scored was bizarre.Sparta fans were a bit nuttier than I was expecting
Second only to the Young Boys fans’ changing T-shirt routine.10/10 scarf routine coordination. Even the upper tier was in time.
I don't watch when other teams' players or fans celebrate a goal against City, usually just put my head down till after play has restarted and always mute the sound if it's on tv. Think the last time I had to see celebrations of an opposition goal was at Wembley in "81 when Ricky bloody Villa scored and the Spurs fans nearby went wild.True. It was pep instructed, could see him on the touchline telling him to do it.I found it interesting last night when Akanji started standing on the ball and not progressing it forward to try and lure them out, at first I thought it was odd and time wasting but after 15 seconds or so I think it got into the opposition heads and they started to press and come out of the 11 at the back they were settled into. Not sure if this was a Pep instruction or just very clever by Akanji, but it worked as Haaland's second came from luring them out and hitting at pace. However, is this a tactic we can use in the PL? I am not sure, we are facing more and more 11 behind the ball and long clearances to fast players, so it could be used but I am not sure the PL teams would come out of their defensive setting. Could be a pretty boring spectacle if we are 1-0 and just stand on the ball waiting on the opposition to try and press :)
I was near that incident. Was at the sparta v hearts game a few years ago
We were drinking outside the pub when we saw a group walking up the road.
Suddenly they rolled their beanie hats down into balaclavas and tried to storm the pub.
I don't think they expected the resistance they got and ended up running off again sharpish.
Only slight casualty was Lord George Foulkes who took a couple of slaps
So no harm done
I thought it was quite good from where I was sat with my cousin who is a sparta fan . I thought they brought a bit of atmosphere considering they got bummed. It's only like us doing the poznan which I think made a guest appearance last night. It was dead as disco in the block I was in . I actually thought it would have been good to go in the away end with my cousin . Block 324 you could hear a pin drop .Did anyone tell them their team lost 5 nil? How did docu and grealish get injured ? Didnt watch the gameYep - James has amazing movement off the ball and his first time passing is top - hopefully more mins to come with Jack, Kev and Jeremy out for a short while.
