I think it would quickly stagnate. Like I said I really enjoy the games against Shakhtar but if it was more frequent and a few hundred away fans was the norm, as well as horrific travel costs it would soon lose its appeal and leave me yearning for the rivalry of fomestic football.

Then there is the damage it would do to the national associations.

Being a club now, sat at the top table and I genuinely hope we try to influence things to stay the same but I honestly doubt it.

The last sentence is key, but the way we operate as a club, would give me hope that whatever it is, we would influence it to at least keep the PL intact, I wouldn't trust the others though, and we'd be one voice amongst much louder ones, and if we refused to join, I think they would be delighted.

Big games aren't big games anymore if they happen every week. It's a concept that would probably be pretty popular (mainly with foreign fans and armchair supporters) for maybe 5 years, then the novelty would wear off, the league would become imbalanced just as every other league ever has done and they'd be back in the position they are now, having destroyed all Europes major leagues in the process

I think you are being wildly optimistic but I genuinely hope you are correct.

Ive loved what has happened to the club over these past 10 years but always believed that it was not some moral crusade by the club owners for the benefit of football and if a Euro league and the associated benefits of it are proven City will follow the rest in backing it and pressuring Uefa/Fifa etc to make it happen.

If I am honest with myself a world league sounds kind of cool , now I know I am stepping on the toes of the traditionalists but it would be interesting to see city up against South American opposition in a meaningful game .

I don't think you have read it wrong no, and if it goes that way, its the death of domestic football, because there will be money in it, I'd hope that if we have influence that it would be to try and get it to replace the CL, and keep the PL as it is, Khaldoon has acknowledged that we consider the PL as high priority, he must work hard to keep it that way, though I've no idea how that could work.

That is my interpretation. If so I will be away.

I might watch matches on TV but there is no way that I will travel from Edinburgh to attend European League matches.

I don’t see it happening.
