Spurs (A) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

So would have been United at home with Arsenal or Liverpool to come after that. Bullet dodged imo.

It's simple when you break it down, City to go on and win the league cup this season would have been hard even with a fully fit squad with the teams that are still in it, Also, Manchester City have turned the League Cup into a major trophy to win for other managers and clubs

Hate this sort of thing because it was a first-team game involving City and you can not win.
Pep and City will take pelters for fielding a weakened team in the league cup tie tonight
City's only result tonight was always a loss because of injuries and protecting players.

Yes it was the first team game involving first-team players and will go down as a Spurs win and they will milk it rightly so, Skysports love nothing more than bashing City and the pundits will talk shit for an hour about this amazing win against the Champions, but this was not a first-team game Pep and City wanted or needed right now.

You feel for the fans, But I think the City players on the whole had given the fans 100%. the fans have not seen many losses in the past couple of years and many understand and will be ok with it.

I will say City going out now looks OK with the teams that are in the hat for the next round,
Was there tonight, the team did us proud, no complaints from me, loads of positives

Walker bailed us out of trouble countless times - we took it all for granted. Can't expect Lewis to do that.
But you can expect him to be in the right place and read the game. god knows what he wonders so far in to the centre circle before the 1st goal

'We are in a difficult position'

FT: Tottenham 2-1 Man City

Manchester City

Man City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to Sky Sports: "Exceptional. The young players did well.

"An incredible top side they are so fast and I am really pleased.

"We play so good. If you play a game that quick they attack quicker, we played really good. Of course, in the second half there was transitions they could have finished the game - I know perfectly how good we played.

"Football sometimes, we are in a difficult position with the amount of players."

On injuries: "It is what it is. It is normal. The limit of the players is there."

"We will see tomorrow [on Savinho's injury].

"Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker, no chance to play the next games."

On not playing Erling Haaland: "The plan was not to play today. We have not had much recovery and it was a waste of energy."

Gave it a good go tonight with the younger players involved.

Not the end of the world and having a free week to prepare for Villa away is more important.
