Spurs (H) Pre Match Thread

Only surprise is the absence of Sane. Everyone else makes perfect sense to me. But if Sane is leaving ( a sad and painful thought) then this is the best 11.

I love Pep, but the man is bonkers.

So many have been crying out for Foden to get more games against lesser opponents and then he throws him in vs one of the best teams in the league. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pleased, but I swear he’s just being contrary.

Shame about Sane, he’s an unbelievable talent but I think he’ll be lining up against us very soon.

Anyway, come on City!

Spurs might be one of the best teams in the country but look at their midfield. They play 4231 so it's Eric Dier who is shit and out of form, plus Dele Alli who would much rather be playing next to the striker than defending.

So much for spurs resting people....same front 3 and nearly the same team

Just goes to show that all mangers spout bullshit at their pressers and constantly use the same soundbites about maybe having to prioritise CL etc etc......

This won't be an easy game and not playing dinho is a bad move...we were wide open at times as Gundogan offers very little protection for our back four. ....especially with Fodden in there id like to have seen a better defensive player in their with him....Silva may not be firing on all cylinders at present but he has the defensive guile to win free kicks et when it's needed...Fodden is a bit too "green" in that respect at present....though his drive going forward could cause them huge problems.

Happy with that! Foden starting is a major surprise given that he didn't even make the squad for the last two games - but it allows us to keep the same basic shape that worked well on Wednesday. It's not really a surprise that David Silva drops to the bench after struggling to affect games of late.

Hopefully Mendy's omission from the squad is just down to them rationing his games as he returns from injury rather than another flare up. I was also expecting to see Danilo involved - i wonder if he's actually injured again or whether he's asked to leave in the summer and is being overlooked. He has been pretty good this season when he does get picked though.

This.

And that fits well with Pep’s likely plan to start Sané against the Rags, which he may have told Leroy about. Just a quick “you’ll be coming on later today to ensure victory and will be starting Wednesday.”

We do like to go straight to the sinister, don’t we?
My thoughts as well but this is the prematch thread so knickers are being dampened.

We know Pep has had an issue with Sané's mentality in training sometimes when he isn't picked, being a bit sulky and miserable. I'm not overly surprised he's not seen as one of the 11 mentally tough enough to bounce back from Wednesday.

IMO starting Foden is a potential masterstroke. The fans absolutely love Phil and any time he does anything it gets the crowd up. Spurs midfield is in trouble too with injuries so it shouldn't be that bad a match up.

Starting Foden to get the crowd going?!? Yeah I’m sure that was Pep’s thought process
