i disagree with you, i dont get why people think barry is good enough for us, he wouldn't get in bayerns, chelseas, uniteds, arsenals, madrids, dortmunds, milans, barcelonas teams so why is he good enough for us ? he is too slow in my opinion and when we play against teams that play that fast counter attacking football he struggles and with rodwell he isn't good enough in my opinion, people have just got giddy because he scored 2 goals against norwich, he could be a very useful player for us though but definitely not a starter but we all have opinions:)

You could say the same about Carrick but against lesser teams he's seen as one of rags best players, his best may not necessarily match Yaya's however he's able to deliver a good performance consistently regardless of opposition. Barry Carrick they're steady eddies every team needs them especially in a league like ours.

Btw Barry may have looked out of place in cl but he's not alone there domestically he's never looked out of place against any of the big teams often being one of our top performers.

If Barry is first on the team sheet for league matches, then the champions league quality player who replaced him will be on the bench every week for league games. He needs to be pushed back if we want to improve

This is a disaster waiting to happen. In the CL you play your best team, and it won't be the best team if one of the main midfielders isn't being played every week because ofBarry.

He's a big lad and he's not stupid. He knows his performances this season weren't upto last and he knows he can't go on forever. If he choses to stay he knows it won't be as a first 11 choice like under Mancini, but he may still prefer that and winning trophies to being first choice at Spurs winning nothing.

I don't think we should underestimate the importance of keeping him around though. We can't replace all our English lads with imports (and that is a serious point, not some xenophobic throwaway).

I agree you do play your bat team in the CL. Sadly Mancini didn't agree, rotating in most games. Notably in Munich and Napoli away . Unforgivable

I think Barry is under-rated - if he plays well, the whole team does and he's a good bloke to have around the place as well by all accounts.

However, if Spurs do bid for him then we should try to get Sandro - outstanding player, providing he gets over his injury.

Think most things listed about rodwell are all lacking in yayas game and being young hes still learning the game , you can label over enthusiaim at him thats something you couldnt ever say about yaya

Keep Barry. His experience and football ability would be invaluable in the domestic cup comps. Helping a few youngsters who I assume would be in those lineups.

Rarely am I speechless but seeing people saying Barry is more important than Yaya is pure insanity. Yes we all get pissed off with Yaya sometimes not putting in a shift and being a lazy twat but he is a match winner. His skill, his passing his power and speed can be deadly as we have seen on numerous occasions.

Barry is a good player but as I said before a player on the decline. Last season he was great but this season has seen teams getting passed him far too often with him having no answer, his tackling is beyond appalling and he will often pick up a yellow for a stupid tackle (usually near our box) and his passing has been wayward as well. He also doesn't contribute enough up front. I know thats not his role but in games where we are swamping the other team he does nout and when he does get in an attacking position he usually misses.

Barry is not the sort of player who is going to see us lift the Champions League trophy. I would deffo keep him as cover/rotation but I don't think he should be starting games for us anymore.

I'm one of Yaya's critics, but Rodwell isn't fit to lace his training boots.
Rodwell is also not yet better than Barry.
And Barry is not more important than Yaya in our team.
Rodwell has years of proving to do in order to be classed as consistent as Barry or as brilliant as Yaya, but you can see he is determined.
