11 players currently in the squad of 25 so we are well inside those limits already even without the fringe academy players. English / Welsh prem quality players = very valuable now.

Wouldn't it only be Logan, Richards, Onouha, Ireland, Johnson, Weiss and SWP count as they have been here for 3 years before 21.

No.

The other's are English, so are home grown within the same association/federation. They can come from any English/Welsh(?) League club.

You can also add in McGivern since he's going to come through quite soon and be understudy to Bridge after next season. We're absolutely fine on this but not sure how Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea are...?

We will be fine on this, only Arsenal players I can think of that have come near the first team are Walcott, Wilshire and Ramsey.

I'm pretty sure this is just an implementation of rules that have already been in place for CL games for years. Not a worry in the slightest, for City at least. English players are great, as are the likes of Stevie and Vlad, who are foreign Academy graduates. I believe there's a finer distinction between home-grown and club-grown status, in the CL at least- have those rules come in as well?

You don't need to pre-register any player who is less than 21 years old, on the 31st of August- I believe this is a measure designed to help youngsters get games.

No it says players can be developed by an english club for 3 years before they are 21 so Fabregas, Clichy, Song, Bender etc are all eligible. Chelsea are the ones that might be in trouble.

It means nothing really though.

This "major" announcement is completely pointless. Apart from the squad cap, it changes nothing! They only have to have been developed at an English or Welsh club for 3 years before their 21st birthday. That's a large part of our team, and nearly every single Arsenal player! I saw someone earlier in this thread say "Arsenal will be fucked." Will they bollocks. They're laughing! They probably have the most home-grown players as they brought them all in when they were 3 months old.

Ah I see, yeah don't think it will have too much implications then looking at it from this point of view, similar rules have been in place in the CL and that never causes any issues.

liverpool are the ones in trouble here....they are on the brink of administration at the moment thanks to all the yanks messing and although not bankrupt they could be affected...looks like the possibility of buying stevie and torres in jan just increased ;-)

Liverpool need to

1) get rid of 6 of their 23 registered foreign players
2) either use 5 academy players in their squad of 25 or buy "homegrown".
3) in the event of the above, 5 regular foreign squad members will need to be shipped out

They only have Gerrard, Carragher and Johnson. They need 8.
