Stadium Expansion

I really wouldnt be surprised if they have some top guys looking at away of doin this where it can be done during the season break.Even if its just one side at a time.

I can't see our owners just trying to fit extra seats in where possible.

It's gonna be a massive thing and taking the whole roof off will be the first step, building up and then putting a new roof back on.

I could even see our owners making it a multi purpose arena so when concerts are planned pre season they can simply remove the pitch within a couple of days and put a stage on. I'm sure there has already been a few stadiums built like this for past world cups etc.

Anyone who thinks its gonna be a quick job is gonna be very much mistaken. Look at our new training complex.

Even more exciting times await us chaps so put your seat belts on and get ready!

Can we rename this thread to something ore outrageous please? ;-)

I drive a mobile crane and lifted in the new bridge at St Helens rugby ground, the guy in charge of that project was in charge or part charge of the building of our stadium for the Commonwealth games, so obviously we got talking about football and the expansion of the stadium came up, the long and the short of it is that it can not be expanded without starting from scratch due many reasons, just looking at the design of the stadium and anyone with any degree building knowledge could work it out, so put expansion out of our minds as we need to fill ours EVERY game then maybe build another...

It's pretty obvious the club don't agree with that, or they wouldn't be talking about it.

Well I am only quoting from the engineer in charge....it will never happen....fact

The engineer in charge of it not happening ?

Surprised no one has mentioned yet having a full roof as the atmosphere for Schalke away a few years ago was awesome. Not sure how often we would be able to use it though as unsure of premier league and fa rules.
Whatever the plans are I'm sure they are worth the wait!

I'm sure if a proposal was put in place which maintained or even improved the 'matchday experience' & which meant the Premier League/FA saw extra money coming in, they would agree to bend the rules.

Stonie is right. I amongst others have repeated this numerous times the roof structure design is such that it cant be modified without a major change that affects the whole roof. Its not impossible but the major problem is the amount of time when the work can be done is so short and the H&S regulations will make it difficult to work during the season The pictures earlier, although worthy attempts, are impossible. I know that the best brains will be put to work on this and a solution will be found I envisage a totally new structure unlike anything we have seen before in this country I would also expect Ashton New Road to be diverted as there is not a lot of space at the southern end.
