I dont think anyone is expecting all games to sell out if we have 10K more seat. Thats not how it works. But for sure if had 10K extra seat do you think they would have been sold for certain games last season ???

damn right they would. And thats the point. We are losing out on ticket sales etc at certain games and therefore there is an opportunity to create more revenue if more seats were available.

The extra fans wont have to fork out £45 every week because it wont be the same 10000 every week , and they wont know they are being slagged off as tourists because they probably wont be people who come onto bluemoon or any other city forum. But you build before it becomes critical not after.
Ok so now we need 20.000 extra fans if they come once every other game or 30,000 extra fans if they come once every 3 games where are they all coming from .load sof true blues have stopped going for one reason & another but you think there is a big demand i just dont see it

we are not just talking about ' fans' some will be people who just want to see top teams and top players 'tourists ' if thats what you want to call them. But when in Barcelona i went to a game because I could, same as when I went to Boston I went to an NFL game. Its all extra income.

If it's sold out for 99% of league games - which it is - that means we are losing ticket sales and season ticket sales right now.

We should expand it asap in my view. OK we won't fill it every week, but we will some weeks, and we will get more revenue. It's a no-brainer imho.
Where the extra fans coming from .we might be "sold out" every week but there are still hundreds of empty seats most games

Also, as for the cheaper tickets in the event of expansion, a lot of the match day revenue is made on bar sales. Say on a carling cup game, each fan spends £10 on beer. 20k fans at £20 per ticket is £400,000 on tickets and £200,000 on bar sales, making a match day income of £600,000. However, 40k fans at £10 per ticket is £400,000 on tickets and £400,000 on bar sales, making a match day income of £800,000. Now I know not everyone will buy beer and all that stuff, but you get the idea. In my opinion, if the club does expand, it makes perfect sense to sell cheaper tickets to get the bums on the seats, and they can make the money on bar sales, food, and merchandise. If ADUG have a good business head on them, and considering how rich they are I imagine they do, then they will have figured this out.
The problem is they will not sell cheaper tickets

I agree with this. I keep hearing people say "with the new TV deal and a potential salary cap, clubs will give us cheaper seats"

For some reason Ive got it in my head that every clubs board will have fatter pockets whilst mine get emptier.

Football fans never benefit and I cant see it with this.

Does anyone know what happened in Germany pre world cup before their increase in capacity. Were their prices more expensive than currently?

There was a figure of between 100,000 and 200,000 quoted for the parade earlier in the year...and being there I'd struggle not to believe that. I bet a good chunk of those would fill some more seats and have probably already tried (and failed).
Look at some ex-premier league clubs back in the championship - I'd bet there 'dwindling fan base' would soon swell up if they're promoted and do well back in the premier league.

Not sure if it's up for debate in the upper echelons of ADUG towers...just a case of the right time, design and capacity I guess.

Its not even worth thinking about in terms of revenue per pint.

The current deal in place at Anfield for example means that Carlsberg pay LFC £1.5m p.a. just to have their beer in the ground.

you are way out of touch if you think fans spend on average £10 at the bar each game

Nail hit on head, this is the market that'll be targeted, like it or not.

You'll always have your hardcore Blues that'll go regardless but it's the day trippers that'll fill the seats.

It's not just the seat, it's the food, drink and souvenirs which is the tidy income think about?

i don't know how feasible it would be but i'd love to see a situation where we could increase the capacity by say 10k seats, and then allocate maybe 5000 seats to under 16 year olds at £10 a pop,

get the next generation hooked and the future will continue to be rosey

For me i would make every domestic home cup game £15:00 and just sell it out.

How many of us know people who call themselves City fans who don't, for one reason or another currently do not go to matches but did so on a regular basis previously.
I've just added up 13 people off the top of my head (friends and family) who don't even have a bluecard membership.
If just 3 of them started going on a regular basis, lets say 7 or 8 times per season, and everyone of us knows a similar number of people, my guess is we would sell out 60000 easily for league games.
Make tickets cheap for cup games and bobs your uncle....??!!

Out of interest if we sold out of available ST's in one day to Blue members, taking it up to 36k, how many more would we be able to sell? 6k?

That would mean we only need to sell, say, 4k additional tickets per game which is definately achievable given how quickly league games sell out
That seems right

Are we all set to go, or is it still under review?

Very true. There's a huge number of people who call themselves City who no longer go, or who just follow City through the TV. Make the ground special, and you'd give these people an opportunity to go, and a bigger reason to go. Long term the club would have to be successful to keep the stadium full
