stadium party

Manchester's not a wealthy City and many City fans cannot afford tickets for a normal match. This gives those fans a chance to feel a part of the club. Good luck to anyone who got a ticket and good on City for making it free.

Totally agree fella,we all know there are more city fans that dont get to go to games than the ones that do,if it encourages sleeping city fans to show there support then im all for it.

I was at stadium today and plenty of fans were fuming about the shambolic distribution of tickets, What happened to the plans to reward loyalty when on Tuesday they were issued in a complete free for all with limited prewarning,

Surely all season tickets should have been activated as a priority?????
Agreed, it's been an utter farce from start to finish.
the biggest farce was not allowing the cup to be paraded on the lap of honour in respect of the Stoke fans.........fuckin sick and spineless

They just gave them out willy nilly, it was wrong.

EVERY seasoncard holder should have automatically been allocated a ticket, if they can't make it they give it someone else, just the way it is. you could use it on the night to gain entry to the stadium.

but you don't make it a free for all, i know 4 people going who don't even support city, they don't have a general interest in football in itself, but it was appealing to them to go to a parade and a party.
Hmmmm. I found it really difficult to get hold of tickets.

I made 3 attempts and walked about 10 miles to get 2 tickets. By the time I got them it was 2 per card

Seasoncard holders have seen City lift the Cup, and half didn't go in the early rounds. If you issue them free to seasoncard holders who are out of town, who knows if they will come, and a lot wont pass on their cards cos they don't know other blues

Re: stadium party - a cock for loyal fans

The one's that aren't moaning on this thread are quite clearly the ones who got tickets.

To stand and queue for tickets to get to the desk before the match and be told they had ran out was a shambles. Especially when you were seeing people walk off with handfuls at the time.

Then the queue afterwards which i didn't bother with just ridiculous. Was wanting to be there on Monday, but why should i make another long journey down the M6 just to see the parade.

If anyone thinks the stadium is just gonna be full of Blues then your wrong, i know of a few folk who have got their United mates tickets cos there is a freee concert on.

Now thats what fucks me off!

I've been a Blue my entire life. I Can't afford a season ticket and i probably never will. I had no chance of getting a ticket to see my beloved club lift their first trophy in my lifetime. Not enough "loyalty points"

My 30 years of support through thin and thiner doesn't matter. those wealthier than myself must be better fans?

You guys knew as did we all when these tickets would be available. I walked to the stadium to get mine. You had plenty of chance.

I think this sum's it up perfectly.
I am lucky enough to have been able to go to most games, Europe, Wembley.
I will go to Town on Monday and not the Ground.
I think it is great that this poster can get in and I have not complaints at all.
We are all Blues together.
In fact I would go as far as to say pass your ticket on if you can to a genuine
fan who is not as lucky as you.

Re: stadium party - a cock for loyal fans

I have a ticket that is true but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't. If the ground is full of city fans who don't go or kids unsure whether to be a sheep and follow the rag herd(then Monday night will hopefully convert them to the right side)
As Gary Cook said the other week we have one of the oldest average season ticket ages in the Premiership, 39 I think he said.So let's use Monday night to change things and have a good pee up in town and leave the stadium to families etc.

Re: stadium party - a cock for loyal fans

Not read all the thread, but what's all the fuss and outrage about getting into the ground on Monday? The main event of the evening is Albert Square and the open top bus parade. I could be proved wrong, but won't the stadium stuff just be players and ex players going on about the same thing and third rate pop bands?

Re: stadium party - a cock for loyal fans

Not going to get into the season ticket casual fan debate, but surely the club could of given people with an active card season ticket\citycard\accesscard the option to activate it online before say 6pm on the Stoke game, and then distribute whatever was left in a slightly more organised way than the shambles that was Tuesday, Early doors they were offring people handfuls, I was offered 16 without even asking as I cant justify the trip up.
The idea that people who queued up before kickoff didnt get tickets but then people who queued up after the match did is just bizzare, did someone forget to put paper in the printer of something.
Some things are typical City and the ability to balls simple things up is still one of them.
Ild guess that at least 25% of the tickets given out before kickoff on Tuesday will have been givent o people with no intention of using them, lets hope they are passed on rather than in drawers, bins, back pockets etc.
They severely under estimated demand, gave them out like confeti and then realised they balls'ed up

Christ, people here will whinge at just about anything.

"an excuse to sell stuff to 40,000 people".

Hello - the event is FREE. You don't have to buy shit. If you want a beer then you can get one. If you don't, then cool - you still get a free show. The fact that the club is going way above and beyond a simple parade, with a full evening of entertainment should be applauded, not criticised.

"Its a joke really, they should have just sent seasoncard holders one each and let the rest fight for the remains."

Organising an event like this by seasoncard would be just about the worst way of doing it. Yes, the club are assuming that those who took 2 or 4 are going to use each of the tickets, but at least you know that x number of tickets were taken and can put on the necessary resource to cope with that number. If they had simply activated everyones card then they would have no idea how many would turn up. It also means people can go in groups and sit as they please.

"they should have done it like the youth cup final vs Chelsea"

That was actually poorly done. They hadn't envisioned how many would turn up so only provided for the lower tier, thinking it would be enough. There were much more there than that though. They also didn't have enough staff or gates open as a result. - we missed the first 10 minutes and a goal because of the queues to get into the ground. At that point they just gave up and opened the gates to everyone regardless of whether they had a ticket or not. In the end I got in free, but plenty of people were stood up due to the lack of much access to the upper tiers.

Distribution could have been handled better, but the general premise of 2x free tickets for everyone is a sound one. Ultimately if we have a packed house on Monday its good for the team and the cameras. I love the way Barcelona do theirs each year with the players coming out one by one to a darkened stadium with spotlights on them. It would be fantastic to be able to do that but it would look a bit shit if the ground was half empty. So making tickets freely available so that you can easily bring along friends, family and youngsters (who may not often get the chance to see the players) is the way to go.

My only concern is that the actual route the bus takes is going to be empty between town and the stadium, with most people going to the stadium.
