State Pension Increases

It only makes it relevant because people won't accept it and blame everything on it. If it isn't going to change then the ones still moaning need to start using all that energy to make what they have now better. I agree there is no point in carrying the discussion on in this form. There is still a Brexit thread I think, not that I will visit it it's over, regardless of the fallout of the vote.

By the way that bloody 90 in 180 day rule is making me cry. I have to spend all my money before GDM and his mob take it from me and redistribute it and I am finding it difficult.
I know mate. Wasn’t trying to make you cross, just tried to put the opposite point of view out there.

Hopefully, things will start improving once this version of Parliament has finished.

It's what this government wants, us all at each others throats and while we're distracted they pass more laws to infringe on our freedoms, make us poorer and line their own pockets. That's for the conservative thread though lol.

If you want wealth taxed before people die, that could be arranged.

It's more and more the case that people who die are leaving their estate to children who really don't need it. The "children" may well be retired in a house with no mortgage and a decent pension.

Now if we had a system where people paid enough tax to create a welfare state where you could rely on the state to give you a decent life in retirement, how much anxiety wouid that erase?
Absolutely agree with your second bit, but I don’t trust any of these fuckers to do it mate, they’d just raid any pensions for some shit train line no one asked for it done other pie in the sky project.
Your first bit I don’t agree wit to an extent, the so called boomers have benefited but allegedly all living longer, if they are leaving it to their kids or grand kids who are all struggling these days then I see no problem, it smacks of the British disease of envy and jealousy, they should be applauded for having a reasonably successful life yet those who haven’t think we should take it off them! You know like those gold plated public sector pensions, I mean when I retired the first thing I did was buy a Lamborghini and booked 5 holidays a year..
Let’s look at the super wealthy before anyone else, I do think it’s ironic we DLL watch a bunch of blokes kick an inflatable thing round for obscene amounts of cash, yet the bloke who goes to watch them are the ones been criticised for reaping the rewards to afford a £800 seat!

There is enough wealth generated in this country to pay pensioners a deserved and meaningful state pension as well as helping the younger members of the population prosper. Sadly, Government's seem to think money should be spent and wasted elsewhere.

We should prioritise getting our population prospering first and foremost.

The proposed change was very minor, and wasn't outrageous whatever side of the outraged spectrum you are on.

The wage growth element of the triple lock got silly comparing a furlough year to a back to work year, and this time it is about excluding the one off public sector bonuses, which won't be paid in future years, from the calculation for the pension which would be paid in future years. It seems fairly sensible if you keep politics out of it.

EB, if it’s renovations needed in your home due to health reasons you should speak to the council. Just because you own your home doesn’t mean to say you cannot get some help and don’t be too proud, there‘s nothing wrong with asking for help.
My dad did this when my step mum had a hip operation and he wanted to renovate the bathroom with a walk-in bath. They basically said yes you can get it, but the process is so long that you might as well just pay yourself if you have the money. Of course, you can't pay yourself and get a rebate once you've proven the need. So the only way to get it is to struggle in unsuitable circumstances for months first.

It is. The percentages were shown after the result.

It won’t ever go away as long as the country keeps getting poorer. However badly you want it to be.

It‘s one of the major causes of the lack of money in our crumbling infrastructure, including state pensions.

The Tories weren't keen on the public sector well before brexit, Labours demographic naturally would need to be the opposite which can also cause problems. We have a system that rewards the winner of the highest minority.

That higher minority for most of my life have gone Blue, so much so that Labour are scared of being a genuine alternative.

But the most depressing part is that all of this has been done with our consent. So we can blame brexit, Russia,a virus, the rich, the pensioners(odd) or our politicians as much as we like.

But the reality is the group that needs the most condemnation is the great British public.

Pretty much agree. We should have used Brexit to concentrate on creating world leading green energy technology especially in tidal energy. Sell it round the world.

Add a huge R&D section the the NHS, to create new drugs and existing ones cheaper, again to sell round the world and fund our healthcare.

We need a total rethink as a country. However we get out of the current rut is going to cost money, so let’s make some right decisions for a change and be proactive.
