Stephen Ireland

Rubbish again today. Like was said, people are blinded by his half a season of being good, when we had threads calling for him to be up with the high earners like Robinho FFS.

QR-You are so right. I for one can only remember the last minute winner he scored for us against Reading at home as the only thing he actually did for us. Totally overated and even struggling to look good in a poor Villa team says it all.

Schalke away was one of the finest individual performances I have ever seen from a City player. Certainly rivals any of Silva's. Ireland just disappeared up his own arse at an early age. Ended up regretting it though, didn't he?

I posted last week that I had faith that our matchday crowd are a lot more fair minded and decent than the reactionary commando bellends who pollute this forum with their bile, and so it proved.

Well done city fans. Three players who gave their all

Ireland's a wanker, blanked the fans when they cheered him before the game started and once again blanked them when he got subbed.

Top class twat.

yes but he is a brilliant player who is unfortunately going thru a blip in form, althought this is a blip that has lasted several seasons under different managers in different teams a blip no doubt.

michael ricketts is similar in that he had a decent season and got a cap for england in 2002 but has had a blip in form for the last 9 years.

some could argue that maybe these two footballers just had a purple patch and were never that good to start with but this is obviously nonsense.

i once scored a cracker of a goal in 1982 and am confident that any year now i will bag another

The City fans showed good grace and class applauding one of our former academy boys and a player who scored some very important goals for us.
Yes, he slagged us off when we sold him, but I honestly think that was because he was gutted, knowing he had blown the biggest opportunity he will ever have in his career.
It's like being dumped by a woman you really like or even love. You will rant and rave about her and call her every name under the sun for a bit, but after a while you will get over yourself.
To be honest, I thought he was one of Villa's better players in the first half but he looked a broken man and close to tears when he went off.

Spot-on that Longsight.

As for the "didn't acknowledge the applause" bollocks - well that's what it is. Not sure what some of you expected but him looking-up and clapping the crowd in a gesture of acknowledgement as he came off the pitch was good enough for me. We moved on from SI some time ago - some people need to catch-up.
