Stephen Ireland

I find some of the posts on this thread a bit sad tbh.

I have no axe to grind with Stevie, he came through our youth system, and for a couple of seasons he looked highly promising, working particularly well with Robinho. I think his drop of form is all tied in with his health scare in the cup game we played when he had palpitations.

He is, without doubt, a few KitKats short of a family pack, but I bear him no malice, and hope he can find some semblance of the form he showed in those couple of years for us.

As long as it's not against us that is.....

So the fact he slagged the club off when he left "all they care about at City now is their diamond encrusted watches" doesn't bother you?? Another bitter knob head that couldn't face the fact that he wasn't Champions League title contending material just like Petrov and Benjani who acted like we owed them something??? Only person that was owed anything was Richard Dunne..

Why would an adult be bothered by someone clearly a few sarnies short having schoolgirl paddy?

Seriously, some people do get wound up about proper petty shite.

By reports for the Chelsea game he ran the show his best game for them. Scored a goal and was a major part in the other 2.

All that talent he has if his head was screwed on he could of been still at City if he focuses on the game he can get back to those levels.

I can understand the hostility given the club's unique circumstances. We have enough people trying to assail us from the outside that it's like if you do it from within, or having previously been within recently, you're gonna get hated and cut adrift that much more quicker. It just human nature. And with all due respect to some magic moments he produced when with us, that's what Stephen Ireland did, so fuck him.

A lot of blues are gonna have to get used to the fact we live in permanent siege mentality now, we have to.

Not getting wound up just don't understand the logic of defending a player that out right flagged us off only because he came through the ranks and had 1 good season..... also the fact he came out and said he was a United fan once we fucked him off was like one of them "and your point is?" moments.....

He's a wanker he had the same attitude to that **** Richardson off the pitch!!

Shit, I didn't get the message!

So, let me get this right, I now, because we are having success, have to turn into a paranoid, hateful ****, offended at the drop of a hat and unable to apply rational unbiased judgement to anything City related (which is really what 'siege mentality in football is an unspoken code for). Just because we are getting a bit of success.

Fair enough, although I can't help but feel that this sort of attitude is more to do with the outlook of individuals on life in general, rather than something specific to a football team.

Here's a better idea, instead of carrying on supporting City like I always have done and struggling to change to becoming this angry 'siege mentality man', I reckon I'd find it much easier to become a rag. After all, what you really are advocating is acting like the worst type of rag supporter, in the mistaken belief that it in any way has an impact on the team.

He had a few swipes at the club when we were getting it from all sides. We were in transistion trying to change from a mediocre team to a team that would challenge on all fronts in an unbelievably short space of time and everyone who wanted to make money out of us but were being cast aside had their bit to say.

Or maybe he knew he wouldn't get the money he was on at City else where?? Hurt my arse he's a professional footballer.... Richard Dunne was hurt and all he said was that he felt he wasn't given a chance none of the bollocks Ireland was spouting....

a top form stephen ireland is a quality player.
he is wasted at villa .
in our squad he would have blossomed.
but you need the ability and the commitment.
he will regret his decisions

which he will realise... only too late
