Neville knew his one to one with Raheem was likely to become public knowledge so he got in first and made it sound like it had bothered him so much it had stayed with him for two years.
Neville has had numerous opportunities to raise this, given his lofty platform but has chosen no to. It’s sad when you think he could’ve used his platform at any time over the last two years to say something, anything in support of one of England’s best players. He said he saw the aftermath of Sunday’s incident blowing up on social media on Sunday night. Monday morning/afternoon he must’ve tracked Raheem down to ask for his blessing regarding discussing it publicly, by Monday night he had aired it on MNF. For someone who had sat on this for two years he certainly got his arse in gear when he needed to.

He admitted all of the above on MNF. He say he'd called Raheem on Sunday to seek permission to talk about their meeting. He feels that as Raheem is a strong character he swept it under the carpet at the time. He also admitted that it was wrong that they haven't broached the subject on MNF and but he gave credit to Raheem for his actions and that has made them discuss it.

Ah well he will be able to watch the rest of the season and hopefully seasons to fully watching his beloved Chelsea on sky tv, can shout all you want at the screen mate. Then time being the healer it is when you finally return to Stamford and watch a game live the you will be able to tell all the fans around how you was innocent and it was the players fault for picking the ball up and walking in a clever fashion.

This is a tragic post.

That you'd go through such mental gymnastics to convince yourself that Gary Neville can't say a good word, or express genuine remorse at not doing everything he could have in the past is a really sad thing.
