Sterling racially abused by Chelsea fan?

What an unbelievable guy he is that verbally abused Raz. He thinks he has risen above it with an "unprovable lie and admitting to shouting manc *** which he sees to be acceptable"

Ah well he will be able to watch the rest of the season and hopefully seasons to fully watching his beloved Chelsea on sky tv, can shout all you want at the screen mate. Then time being the healer it is when you finally return to Stamford and watch a game live the you will be able to tell all the fans around how you was innocent and it was the players fault for picking the ball up and walking in a clever fashion.

Neville knew his one to one with Raheem was likely to become public knowledge so he got in first and made it sound like it had bothered him so much it had stayed with him for two years.
Neville has had numerous opportunities to raise this, given his lofty platform but has chosen no to. It’s sad when you think he could’ve used his platform at any time over the last two years to say something, anything in support of one of England’s best players. He said he saw the aftermath of Sunday’s incident blowing up on social media on Sunday night. Monday morning/afternoon he must’ve tracked Raheem down to ask for his blessing regarding discussing it publicly, by Monday night he had aired it on MNF. For someone who had sat on this for two years he certainly got his arse in gear when he needed to.

As much as I don’t like to say this, a hell of a lot of our own support fell for the media bullshit about Sterling. Some of the things which were said about him at games and also on this forum crossed a line.

If he had a bad game the reaction and things said would be totally different to what you would hear or see about other players.

If he had a good game it would always be followed up with a ‘but’, which even continued into the start of last season.

When he was off form in the beginning, I simply saw a young kid in a declining team made a scapegoat, not allowed to run at players and having to wait for Kolarov on the overlap every single time.

Some ‘fans’ went straight for the throat on him though in a way I’ve not seen for any new signing and that was because they’d been fed the media bullshit and crapped out the rage.

Yup the Sun is only for looking at models tits not for sports coverage.

Well Dave Kitson should never be given a platform to voice his opinions ever again. Read the captions on the pictures. Disgrace.

Yip.Some of the stuff said and posted after last season's derby game was shocking.
Carried on to the Spurs game and stopped after he scored.

I'm not fan of Neville - and yes, he might have done more in Sterling's defence, over the years - but you make a crucial point when you suggest that he might also have needed Sterling's permission to go public with this.

It would have been a breach of breath of trust (as he was his boss, at the time) to do so without Raz's go ahead. So, I'm pretty sure that you are right.

Much and all as I do like to find reasons to dislike Neville, in this case, I suspect he might just as possibly deserve praise for wasting no time in leaping to Sterling's defence, as soon as he was allowed.

Thing is, we'll never know if he wasn't just itching for the chance to make amends for his shortcoming rather than getting out in front of a possible scandal and (again, as much as I would like to find another reason to dislike the goating rag prick) it is quite unfair to speculate otherwise.

Dead right. Well done for raising this point. As I've already mentioned this week, I was sat in front of a guy at the Champions League game last season against Feyenoord. Sterling had a pretty inconsistent game and the guy behind me was wanting to make his piece heard about how much he disliked Raheem. It got to the stage later on in the second half where, after huffing and tutting loudly at everything Sterling did wrong for 85 minutes, he shouted "useless fucking wanker" at him in the middle of the Family Stand and stormed out. I wonder if he heard the cheers for Raheem's last minute winner as he left the ground...

You get it all over the ground, though. It's not just odd folks on Champions League nights either, it's at least one to ten people in every block in the stadium. There's a seasoncard holder who I've known for years, he's sat on the row in front of me since the 13/14 season, who's never been convinced by Raheem at any point in his career until very, very recently. There will be a lot of otherwise well-meaning journalists and City fans who will be sheepishly deleting tweets and posts they've made in previous years because a lot of people have just had the dawning realisation planted in front of them that their scepticism surrounding Sterling's ability might not have always come from the most well-intentioned place.

This is a tragic post.

That you'd go through such mental gymnastics to convince yourself that Gary Neville can't say a good word, or express genuine remorse at not doing everything he could have in the past is a really sad thing.

It also makes absolutely zero fucking sense, because why the fuck would a private conversation between 2 people leak when Sterling has shown no intent to do so, and Neville's not mentioned it until Monday.
