Just saw another Youtube clip (I know), anyway I didn't quite realise how good he is at collecting long-balls and bringing others into play - I think his still raw talent and Pellegrini's coaching ability could be a match made in heaven - wouldn't surprise me if we converted him into a CF over the season and his game went up a notch...Henry signed for Arsenal at a similar age from Juve....

Yeah, he's deceptively strong and he's got a first touch most players would kill for. More in his locker than the archetypal second striker/wide forward.

Re: Stevan Jovetic (part 2)

Can I ask.

Is it nailed on again like Isco?

Not a problem, glad to be of service......

I know a good player when I see one, Jovetic is an average player in an average team, no amount of bluemooners are going to change my mind on this one. Balotelli is twice the player even with the trouble he sometimes brought.
Jovetic is a good player, definitely above average. I agree that he's not exactly amazing yet, but he very well could become world class once he moves to a better team (like City) and a better league (Like the EPL).

To let Tevez and Dzeko go for Jovetic and Negredo would be shockingly bad transfer business IMO. Feels like we only go backwards these days.
This must be a joke?

Never heard of Negredo and Soldado, so they're hardly going to get us to the next level, looks to me like FFP is having a bad effect on us.
Oh fuck, if Brendan hasn't heard of them let's call it off.

Granted he may have the football knowledge of a small woodland creature, but he has spoken.

I'd be surprised if City used him as anything but a sub. If you think Dzeko's occasional miss can be frustrating....you have no clue how bad Negredo can miss. Not to mention that Sevilla fans have been bitching about his inconsistency from day one.

Since you like statistics, Negredo scored a goal every 6 shots in La Liga last season. Dzeko scored a goal every 6.7 shots. The year before it was similar (Negredo 6.07, Dzeko 6.7). So statistically, Negredo needs less shots to score goals and Dzeko is more wasteful.

I know Negredo has his share of howlers but can you point me to a worse Negredo miss than Dzeko's vs. Swansea? Cheers.

Re: Stevan Jovetic (part 2)

Not very optimistic about this deal, but I will glad if Jovetic proved me wrong.

Agreed, he's all about short sharp passing, flicks and one two's, we've got that in abundance already and we've seen how ineffective it can be, a player who can beat his man, run with ball or a bit of pace would have been nice.

Mate, you admitted to not knowing who two Spanish internationals were at all. Because of that I think your opinion around these parts should be taken with a grain of salt.

Jeffers and Nugent were England internationals, I'd be surprised if anyone outside of Wikipedia had heard of them.

Wouldn't surprise me either, there's been lots of talk from people who think that's where his future lies as he's a borderline striker and support striker. Fact that he's tall, and has the hold up player of a top CF can only. All those things added to the fact he can play with his back to goal.

Edit: Immaculate first touch as well.
