Stockport County v City 28 July

I remember the half time bloke announcing Blackpool 2 donkeys nil at one stage , that lot can kiss my fat arse!

Jesus there's some amateur dramatics on this thread. As someone who has been to every match we played against them, even the friendlies going back as far as I can remember I can safely say I've never seen any trouble, never mind City fans being picked off and attacked. So what they celebrated against us, wouldn't we have done the same in that situation? Do you expect them to not cheer because some City fans used to go and watch them on Friday nights (me included as a kid). Time to move on for some people I think....

Youre joking?
when we used to play them pre season in the 80s it always kicked off in the corner - spilled onto the pitch a couple of times.
Ive been knocked out outside county - the only time in my life. On the deck seeing stars and someone stood over me asking if I was OK. It always got a bit confusing as to who was city and who was county outside, so Ive no idea who smacked me.
Im not saying it was WWIII, and cant imagine anyone with knives on Castle Street, but there has been trouble.

Don't give them a penny, let them go bust.

the next time I give county a penny is when we play them in the champions league

I am willing to wait and keep hold of my money

All this animosity between City & County makes me very sad. Could anyone (briefly) sum up what’s caused it?

Used go watch County all the time (me mam used play for the ladies team so got free tickets) and have recently taken my little lad to his first football game there as he is a bit too young for a ‘big’ game.

Reading through the thread seems they gave you a bit of stick when they were in the ascendancy but when I was last there (last home game so May sometime) didn’t hear any anti City chants if that helps?

County fans hate us because we have a big following in Stockport. People that don't support Their local club get on my wick a bit too.
Bullshit, mate.

It doesn't matter where you come from, you follow your team the best you can. We can joke about United fans coming from wherever, but they still feel just like we do when their team does well or not so well. Whether we attend games or not is irrelevant.

It is the Gerry Gow Testimonial on the same day down at Ashton Gate. I know it is only a City old boys' affair, but I think this is worth supporting more than County.

I can be in Edgeley Park with two or three minutes from my pad and have been known to put aside an underlying disgust for their incredibly short history span (i.e. the number of times City have helped them out) and watch them about twice a season. However, my unemployed son has gone to watch them (i.e. his local team - I wasn't born in Stockport) and he ends up getting thrown out for persuing his hobby and taking photographs.....so they can go whistle! He even went down to Cheadle Town last friday to watch their friendly against County. He asked Cheadle for permission to film. He got their permission in writing. Then a County offficial recognised him and even though they were the away team they convinced the Cheadle chairman to throw him out the ground once more.

Stockport County are an unbelievably small minded club with some good fans, but with some incredibly twisted ones too. They have been architects of their own downfall and I find it incredibly difficult to feel sorry for them.

I think I'm gonna go to this one.

County were my route back to Live football (with my kids) after a near 20 year hiatus - so I have no axe to grind, its sad what has happened to them. . .

I think I need to make myself clear on this one...............

I've got no problem what so ever with anyone supporting what ever club they choose, It's a free country isn't it?
I just think it a tragedy when fans don't get behind their local club. Following a club miles away because "my family all support them" isnt an excuse as far as I'm concerned, most of my family are rags, does that mean I've gotta support them?
I have The misfortune to drive through Wigan sometimes for work and all I ever see is rag shirts everywhere yet the DW is half empty when ever wigan play, makes me sick!
