Stoke away post match thread

This time around we didn't lose because Stoke were "Stoke". They were sooo much better all over the pitch. All cred to them, they are trying to remove the Stoke label and although I didn't think they would do so today, they did and how brilliant they were compared to us.

Must be a very easy task to fire up your team against us at the moment. "Do what Liverpool and Stoke did." "Press them high and counter when they lose possession."

I'm fuming at Pellegrini and it doesn't matter if we're first, through in the CL etc, it's more a matter of "despite of" than "thanks to" this season. After the WHU game at home, it has been extremely worrying tendencies.

Please, Tolmie or any other ITK, can you cheer me up somehow? I'm afraid this season is falling all apart. Getting my first kid in a couple of days and not even that is helping my mood...

PSG look great in that ultra competitive Ligue 1 , give me a break

They look much better in Europe for years. With the football we play on days like this and they happen not so rare, we'd struggle in ultacompetitive Ligue 1 too just like we struggle pretty much anytime we play against european sides.

Anyone saying that we were simply out-fought by Stoke in the windy conditions is doing them a serious mis-justice.

We were outplayed by them and outclassed by them.

Well played Stoke and well done Mark Hughes. A manager who was able to get more out of his players individually and collectively compared to a manager for whom the players have very little regard.

Second best all over the pitch to a team that got beat by Sunderland last week. Simply shocking performance from our team in defending and no better in attack. I am not going to single out any individual as no-one played up to the standard that is expected of them. Stoke took the game to us and it could well have been 5/6 - 1 to them. They simply wanted it more than us and the same goes for Pellers who cut a very sorry figure in the dug-out and had an expression of a man that simply does not have a clue in changing tactics/player/formation when things are clearly going so wrong. I always guessed it was going to be a tough game even though Stoke got beat last week by Sunderland, little did I ever think it was going to end up being a rout. Injuries are a consideration but that is no excuse for such a lame performance.

The players should pay for the fans travel costs. Utter shite performance. I can recall us having 2 chances de bruyne and kolarov hitting the post. Not good enough for a supposed "attacking style of play"

Kolarov had more shots on goal than any other City player. How can you say he's useless going forward. He was our best attacking player
And how many on target? Unless I'm mistaken it was one I think? All his crosses were useless, even with the wind helping him. There were 2-3 occasions when the ball came to him & he just randomly hoofed it to their keeper as a shot/pass from 40 yards out. He was on the penalty spot when Navas picked him out and he completely miscontrolled it.

Yes he got into decent positions & took pot shots but not sure I'd correlate that as a good attacking display. Then you add to that his defending, which to be fair was no worse than he usually is, and overall it was a shite performance.

I'll give you this though, he definitely wasn't the worst on the pitch.
