Champagne Charlie said Stoke deserved a draw and had the better of it

Is he for real.

I watched the whole game and agree with him. We shaded the first and them the second.

How, when we hit the post, had one cleared off the line and had more of the ball and Stoke managed to do absolutely nothing, did they shade the second half?

It's like 90% of the posters on this thread didn't even watch the game.

I don't know where all this complaint about Balotelli is coming from. Is it because Dzeko almost scored a goal on the counter in the last minute? Balotelli I thought was skipping past his defender and linking well with Tevez. This was probably his best game in terms of team play.

Ditto. He got battered today as well. Sometimes goes down a bit too easily for someone so strong but I don't know what more he could have done today.

Cant believe the hate for maicon:s

And people saying about his age? He fucking dusted a fresh etherington and just took ball off him when he had about 15 yards on him.

Javi looked fucking superb and oh how i wish that header would have sneaked in!!!!

Stoke are just Stoke they do what they have to which is fair enough but they are a bunch of inbred cnuts but hey ho.

Good point all in all good have so easily been 3 but bring on the next game.
Least he could do after giving him the ball in the first place

So what? Zabaleta gives the ball away too and he wouldnt have caught etherington if it would have been the same situation.

Anytime we don't hit the zenith, pundits are going to say we didn't play well. Same pundits should question the refereeing today, which was again sub standard at this level.

At the goal, I can understand their missing it but not excuse it, but the elbow was naughty and Pullis should be asked about that one by the media as well.

Surprised Clattenberg never sent MB off for the elbow incident; maybe he hasn't forgotten Bolton away.

Same as the other games, strong mentality but nowhere near the level we can play at. Although the pitch and ref had a little to do with that too. Hope everything comes together against Real Madrid.

We have had two really hard away games already, the season has only just started and we are warming up

You can only play what's in front of you and I wouldn't consider Liverpool nor Stoke to be particularly hard opponents. Historically they may be tough grounds to go to so sure a point is always better than none, but that's two away games in which we've let poorer opposition off the hook.

Definitely too early to worry, but the games are going to come thick and fast for the next month or so, and at the end of it the league will have taken some shape as will the CL. We need to start finding a little form and also need to find a clean sheet from somewhere.

Do you not think that the team are kind of settling in still, a few new faces new tactics to get used to etc, it looks that way to me showed some real good flashes of form today, I am not that concerned, I think the more games they play the better they will become

Definitely think playing 3 new faces today didn't help. Sinclair and Maicon both struggled, but Garcia looked a worthy replacement for NDJ. I'm not sure tactically there's anything new as we seemed to be playing the same 442 system we did for most of last season. I agree we saw some flashes of of quality just not enough to really trouble Stoke. It may well just be down to how little time they've had on the training field so far this season. Teams like ours where a large portion of the squad play international tournaments every two years can sometimes struggle to find the 'click' after a tournament summer.

I felt we played well enough in the first half ...... Tevez very unlucky with his shot that flew wide , Maicon unfortunate too , with his effort .... great shot from Balotelli too , that flew wide , although it was probably his only worthwhile effort in the entire game ..... very poor defending from us to allow Crouch in for their goal , but Javi Garcia equalised at the right time though and we really ought to have taken it on from there and gone on to win this game.

Second half and for me we all too often allowed ourselves to be outmuscled by Stoke .... our passing lacked accuracy and until the final stages of the game we struggled to create much , aside from Yayas effort that produced an excellent save from their keeper ...... we did finish strongly though and might have 'nicked it'.

You've got to win these games though , and thats our second away draw already ...... the cutting edge needs to be sharper , or we'll continue to drop points.
