Here's one for Stuart if he looks in. I'm sure you've seen the endless threads on here about Martin Tyler being a rag and hating City.

Check this out. Really made me laugh: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.redcafe.net/threads/martin-tyler.377449/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.redcafe.net/threads/martin-tyler.377449/</a>

Everyone's defensive of their club, some to the point of irrational paranoia.

That said, I watched the last half hour of the Cardiff game last night.

I've never heard Tyler willing us to score the way he appeared to with United as they searched for a late winner.

You might explain that away, but the contrast was pretty stark to me.

On that thread they all accuse Tyler of wanting CArdiff to win.

As you say, football fans are irrational and paranoid. They only see the world through the prism of their own support.

It tickled me that they all use the example of Zabaleta's equaliser against them as proof he's a Blue and hates United.

The truth, of course, is simple: as a commentator he reacts more to an exciting goal that a predictable one. Cardiff scoring against us or United is exciting, whereas goals for us or them are predictable.

I largely agree, and I take the point.

Then again, those United fans are clearly borderline schizophrenic, I don't think that discredits the, long held, opinion of many that Tyler has a bias.

I am beginning to think there is credence in the claim that he has a soft spot for United, and by virtue, subscribes to the 'big bad money bags City' rhetoric.

I realise it's not a fashionable position to take among the intelligentsia. But I'm leaning towards thinking that way, via logic, rather than blind paranoia and desperate siege mentality.

He's a professional, but we're all human after all.

If this was city there would be meltdown(note they even spelt the team they were playing wrong)...

"Tottenham Labour To 2-0 Victory Over Tromoso"

Andre Villas-Boas' struggles at Tottenham continued as his side laboured to a 2-0 win at Tromso, continuing their perfect Europa League form.

While I think we can all be a little bit paranoid when it comes to these things, you could hear Tyler clearly groan as we scored our 2nd (I think). I know they were the underdogs but you're meant to get behind British teams in the Champions League.

Hearing Tyler and Quinn's doom-laden commentary on Wednesday on Man City's game had the collective enthusiasm of two pensioners sat in a bus stop bemoaning a rainy day. A ray of sunshine, a rainbow, per chance, would occasionally emerge from both when the opposing team attacked. Contrast that to the commentary for the swamp rats' European ties where they are not objectively commentated on but positively cheerleaded and gushed about. I laughed when Quinn's long suffering attempt at neutrality slipped and announced out loud, "Oh dear!" when Pzlen narrowly missed a chance to score.
