Stupid little things that bug you

Blazers and ties as part of school uniform.

Unnecessary. Expensive. Uncomfortable. Not reflective of what people wear in the real world, working or otherwise.

A polo shirt & jumper much cheaper and comfortable. Or does wearing a blazer and tie make you learn better?
Obviously didn’t help me

Good point.
Here it's just a school polo shirt and sweatshirt for winter with shorts at every age.

My local school has commissioned a blazer made from denim which is cheaper and hard wearing.
In contrast, my grandson has just started school and is required to wear a uniform. Madness.

The formality of school uniform is strangely archaic and out of touch. As a parent the expectations also cost a fortune and the current standard simply seems to be a case of "but it's always been like that."

I understand the need for some level of uniform for consistent standards within a school, and a free for all with clothing with subsequent have's versus have not's bullying needs to be avoided. But there's got to be a better, cheaper, more comfortable way.

The work place is now less formal as well, I think Covid was a catalyst for that. As long as the work gets done and everybody applies effort, what they wear is mosty irrelevant.

Although, I still think there should be a standard in place (smart casual). I can't take somebody wearing a super dry hoodie, jeans and battered trainers seriously.

School uniforms back in the day so you can’t differentiate between the well off and the poor……..free school meals were a giveaway though…..
