You shouldn't use them at all as (it's been proven) they deposit fragments of other people's poo (pooticles) on your hands that you've just washed.

I tend to agree with this.
But there are a lot of lonely old people for whom a minutes chat with the bus driver is a big thing that helps make their day.
So ease off on them.
