Sturridge - Chelsea

Whats all this about ? A good balanced debate, with a visitors contribution not being pilloried ( nice one Zoffie). Can this be the Bluemoon discussion forum I know and sometimes despair of..... more please.
ps
Hope Studge stays....but not at any price.

i heard that Hughes thinks Big Phil has much more potential and is a fraction of the cost in wage demands. and he doesn't need them both . . .

Haha yeah right that rings true!

i would be gutted if studge went. like our chelsea "friend" has commented, the 6+5 rule may be a future hinderance for top clubs. But the main reason, is quite simply that he looks like he will be a top top player. touch, technique and vision are all excellent....a very natural footballer.

i also think that some of his supposed negatives may actually be positives. arrogance and attitude (channeled properly) seem to be part and parcel of top players these days... he also seems to have a shoot on site policy, which again is seen by most as a negative..... i personally cant remember the last time we had a striker that did that!

we must keep him here... whatever the cost.

but hughes said he was going to sort out dunnie's contract and he did , so he must of been aware of other player's contracts aswell i.e sturridge

Yes, but he also had to sort out transfers, Hart's contract, Johnson's contract, etc. etc and deal with an AWOL Shinawatra, the Corluka/Ireland farces, etc. He can't do everything, he had to prioritise.

A lot of opinions expressed on this thread but a general feeling that Danny has to be realistic, buckle down and realise that he may be left out in the cold quicker at Chelsea than here. Maybe, just maybe he is waiting to see if MH goes at the end of the summer, if yes he stays, if no he goes; I am convinced MH does not rate him currently and certainly favours Ched in preference.

No fee at the end of the season so somebody will give him an inflated weekly pay packet. If the fifty or seventy-five is to be believed, as he ever produced such quality and consistency, and has he always been available. Seems to get more than his fair share of knocks. Was pretty fantastic at U18 level but I suspect he will be one who finds himself in a bigger pond as he grows older with similarly aged players overtaking him in the context of starts in the Premier League.
We haven't got to find a fee either though...

Braggster , when you put it like that , Hughes has done an awful lot behind the scenes since he has been at the club , I just hope sturridge's contract is sorted out , that's all , apologies,

Me too, but I have my doubts...

Sturridge played tonight for the England U20s against Italy. This is not to be confused with the England V France U21 match, that was also played tonight.

Both games were 2-0, the U21's lost, Obertan (Ripped England apart) and Moussa Sissoko (Good box-to-box Vieira type player) Scored the goals for France.

The U20's of course won. Sturridge started, and scored the second goal. He scored another but it was chalked off for an offside in the build-up, and he should have scored again later on, The guy who compared him to Fowler in his finishing, but went on to point out he was not as good with his head, wouldn't be surprised that he messed up the goal with his header, and that would've put England 3-0 up.

Chelsea's Scotty Sinclair and Ryan Bertrand, Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs and West Ham's Freddy Sears, maybe recognisable Youth who took part.

The 1st goalscorer was Ciaran Clark stand in captain and a Defender from Villa.

Adam Clayon and Javan Vidal were in the squad (City players)
Delph (Leeds) Capt Jack Cork (Chelsea) missed the game through injury
Noel Blake, the Ex-Villa player is the coach.

Chelsea, Villa target Sturridge rejects final Man City contract offer
05.04.09

Danny Sturridge has rejected a final contract offer from Manchester City.

The News of the World says City were ready to pay the England Under-21 striker £60,000 a week, including bonuses, to stay at Eastlands.

But Sturridge, 19, is not convinced he will get regular first- team football at City and is prepared to move on.

Long-term admirers Chelsea and Aston Villa are on full alert and will make their moves at the end of the season.

Although his deal ends in the summer, there will still be a fee as he is under 24.

It will be set at around £2million by a tribunal but a percentage will go to Coventry where he was in their academy.

There's no way he can justify leaving City for Chelsea with the 1st team football slant.
He will not even be guaranteed that at Villa. We can assume that if this is actually authentic, he is going to Villa.
