Summer clearout - who?

Hart because he is worse than he was 3 years ago. Keeps making the same mistakes, has very poor distribution and won't play 2nd fiddle.

Richards because he is no longer good enough and way too injury prone.

Clichy or Kolorov because neither are good enough to be our first choice left back and certainly not good enough at CL level. Probably Kolorov as only 1 yr left.

Lescott because he is out of contract and costs too much in wages.

Boyota- not good enough at this level.

Rodwell because it is clear that he is too injury prone and Pellegrini doesn't rate him so if the manager stays then he goes.

Sinclair - because he isn't good enough for us

Guidetti - because he is never going to make it with us.

The jury is currently out and spending a long time debating whether Milner/Dzeko and Nasri are worth what they will want.

Dzeko - inconsistent, not good enough on the ball.

Lescott

Mdm - very error prone

Kolorov - not good enough

Garcia

Boyata - never going to make it at the top.lvl

Sinclair

Guedetti

Barry

Milner

Rodwell - maybe give him one more season????

-- Tue Apr 22, 2014 9:56 am --

Dzeko - inconsistent, not good enough on the ball.

No question
Lescott out of contract 5m wages and 6m amortised fee to play with
Barry out of contract 4m wages and 3m amortised fee to use
Boyata out of contract - 1m wages to play with
Guidetti - 1m wages and 2m transfer fee
Richards - 3m wages and 2m fee to use
Sinclair - 2m wages - fee neutral

Total generated this summer = 19m wages. Amortised fee over 4 years - spend about 40m transfers

Only need to replace a DM, RB and CB to cover these - Mangala, Sagna and Fernando ??? Wages and fees covered, no additional costs to FFP books.

New signings to strengthen:
LB - Cliche or Kolorov - one only replace

New Contracts
Milner, Nasari .......

Consider:
Nastasic - or try him as DM
Pants

Keep;
Rodwell
Garcia
MDM

Upgrades -
Dzeko ? (could be the beast but have a feeling he will come good again)

Add Milner to that as we either offer him a new deal, which will release about £4m in amortisation, or sell him which gives us another £10m in all. Sinclair will also save about £3m amortisation.

Dzeko as well, who could release the same as Milner depending on what we do with him.

So probably a total of £20m amortisation off the books meaning we can spend £100m without affecting the bottom line.

Glad to see you confirm my understanding of amortisation PB. Too many threads about simple ins and outs based on transfer fee top lines. Sky do the same. As you say we could easily have 100m to play with and still save on wages without incurring any additional costs.

Every time I see Casillas mentioned about replacing Hart I cringe . He can't even get into the Real Madrid team so why would
City want him . If people Are going to mention names at least be a starting player.

Yes of course, why on earth would we want a two time euro winning and world cup winning captain here at City, absolute nonsense of the highest order.

In the light of the Moyes sacking, Radio 5Live was in meltdown this morning and one rag caller was going on about City with all the usual tripe about "Council House", empty seats and...the killer...a billion pounds spent (he said it twice to make sure the audience heard it). Anything to take the attention away from the swamp, I suppose, but his overall rant was about them doing it the 'right way' unlike us throwing a billion pounds just to catch up with the rags! Quite comical, these delusions, but I have no idea where they get these billion pound ideas from. I think this clown needs some education from PB and others on here who have a strong grasp of how the system works, and more importantly, how we are able to generate more income to work the market without having to worry about failing FFP whether it be a million or a billion spent.

To be honest don't think we need to do too much in the summer. Lescott, Boyata, Sinclair and Barry all look like they are certain to leave. I would also sell Richards, Rodwell(cause of their injury problems) and Dzeko(always seems wasteful to me). Bring in Lukaka to replace Dzeko plus he can play left wing and would offer a direct opinion like Navas does on the right. And bring a top CB, a right back as cover and either promote Huws or bring in a decent CM.

The bigger challenge in this exercise is who do we bring in to replace these folks?

Most of the players being mentioned in this thread are home-grown. If we get rid of lots of home grown players, we cannot just replace them with imports. Bringing youngters up doesn't solve the problem either - if they're under 21 they don't count towards the quota anyway.

So while I agree that the likes of Boyata, Barry & Sinclair should go, we should be thinking about which home grown players, above the age of 21, we should be targeting.
