Summer Transfers

Tanguy Kouassi has moved to Bayern on a free - so thats one of our suposed targets according to Ezzy gone. tbf I think i remember him saying we would have competition from Bayern for him
I didn't see the Bayern link coming. But he was the hardest of our targets because of the number of CB we would've had.

Great move for him though if they're not planning on replacing Boateng & Martinez.

Manchester City | THE BEST IS YET TO COME

Any update on the other targets you mentioned? (Camavinga, Bastoni and Ihattaren) I know you mentioned some were done. When do you think they would be unveiled?

The most important difference-maker for the Elite Development Squad generations to succeed in or make it to the first team won't be about how good the players are, but how many chances they get / how much they are trusted.

Left / Right Sided Attacking Midfielder?
Messi's role in recent years has transformed to neither that of a right winger nor that of an attacking midfielder, he is a perfect hybrid of both roles combined. Messi has the required skillset to play both roles with the same level of quality.

Bernardo Silva is another example of a right sided attacking midfielder, a role he has played almost all of his career.
(he's not a hybrid, unlike Messi)

Bernardo Silva (Feb 2019):
"You have some areas on the pitch where you feel a little bit more comfortable, but me I've played almost all my career on the right side as an offensive midfielder, or number 8. That's where I feel more comfortable."

Description of the role Bernardo played on the right of the Monaco 4-4-2

De Bruyne is turning into a complete midfielder.
Bernardo can do the same. But he needs to be playing in midfield long-term to be able to improve.
  • Against Liverpool 18/19 home & away he played in a double pivot brilliantly
  • First half of 18/19 he mostly played Kevin's AM role brilliantly
Bernardo cannot do that from the wings.
(he's not a goal threat, unlike Messi who can play as a winger perfectly)

You've been pretty consistent in you stance on targets, but what happens if we don't get Bastoni? Is there any alternative plan b targets or is it him or bust?

None that I know of. Which is consistent with the way we operated before.

Pep wants to have 3 first team XI
2 XI of Elite starting core players
1 XI of Elite talented youngsters
  • You are either one of the core starters or one of the wonderkids. Players who don't fit either criteria won't have a future in the first team.
  • The arrival of Juanma Lillo is extremely important for Pep to be able to manage a squad of 30+ players.
  • Juanma will be a central figure in teaching the players, especially the youngsters, tactical and positional flexibility, to be able to adapt to various positions and contexts, both offensively and defensively. (Positional Play)
Pep Guardiola on choosing Juanma Lillo:

"I decide on Juanma - I know him, what I need. He is the right person to help us, to understand the game better, the methodology of the training sessions..."

The vision they never achieved at Barcelona
The true aim of the academy is to produce world class players that can play in multiple positions / systems

Breaking into the first team between 17 to 19 years old and bieng allowed to move on to a top team around their early / mid 20's

A completely self-sustaining team

Everything I see points toward Koulibaly and a lesser known, potentially cheaper CB. Ake is the name floated but Bastoni could fit that model too. Holgate as well.

City in talks with Holgate at Everton

really - reliable info or media speculation and rumour?
right sided centre half/fullback -

Either suggests cover for Walker and Cacello leaving or reinforcement at centre half

He is 24 (older than i thought)

I know it wont happen but i do wish we would look at sorting out the left back position - it is a continous weak area in our team
