Sunderland Post Match Reaction Thread

really enjoyed that

two (or four) up front with Yaya bombing forward as well

positives all over the pitch including the substitutions

that's more like it!

Kolarov was much better today. For the first time this season, he looked fit enough for the job, half a stone lighter and half a yard quicker. His passing was crisp and he made two of our five goals. Fair play to the fella. Can't see how some are still slagging him off after a very decent all-round performance.
Oh, and Vinny should be a short-listed contender for every player of the year award going. Best defender in the country this season, and possibly the best player full stop. But I fully expect him to be criminally ignored.

I will start by saying of course we played very well and it was pleasing to see the more attacking line up.

Everyone has gone on and on about how marvellous we were, so forgive me for not carrying on with that - it's all been said. So at the risk of being called a miserable twat, I would just point out the following.

First, Sunderland were really dire. You can only play what is in front of you, but they were hopeless, offering nothing in attack, defensively weak and uncompetitive in midfield. They flattered us for sure.

Second, I was still concerned that we totally took our foot off the gas when we went 2 nil up. For the next 30 minutes, we let them get right back into it... although admittedly we still looked the more dangerous. But we should have carried on as we started and we would have finished the game off in the first half. As it happens, it worked out fine (obviously) but I still think we were wrong to ease off so much after our 2nd goal.

My final criticism is that I think Kolorov is really not very good. He's not diabolical, clearly, but he's poor defensively and going forward not too brilliant either. Right back seems to be ok for us with Richards, Zabaleta and it would seem Boyata who can all do a top job for us. Maybe Boateng too. But we desperately need a decent left back. I'd rather have Wayne Bridge to be honest. I thought Kolorov was comfortably our worst player again today.

Sunderland were dire because we made them look dire. The runners in a race with Usain Bolt are world class runners but he makes them look dire-why is this ?? Its because he's better than them. we were better than sunderland today which is why they were dire. nowt else.

I'm watching the game now for the third time. :D

I'm just so pleased at how complete a performance it was. Yes, I know that Sunderland isn't very good if we wish to be kind, but we made them look bad. Scratch that. We made them look terrible.

Absolutely bloody marvellous performance.

If we play that team against United we'll hammer them.

I understand being happy about your team's performance but Sunderland weren't much of a threat at all, if you played like that against us you'd be destroyed on the counter.

better than the fluke 2-2 that your scum infested side got.

i know you are shitting it, you know you are shitting, even fergie knows you are shitting it.
your properganda might work on the rag media and the rag refs but it wont cut any ice with us.
tick fucking tock.

Really pleased with the result today, I'm not having all this "They were shite" stuff though.. Ok they were poor but we dominated the game. Bring on those Rags on the 16th.

One more thing, met a couple of blues today in the bar at City square, I know they read the forum but have not signed up yet. Just wanted to say hi as I said I would! Go on join up, you know you want to.

Sunderland were very poor and we can take a lot of the credit for that. City were up for it from the start and it was very pleasing to see us score 5 with all the goals from different people.

Great to see Johnson on from the start. Terrific forward pass from De Jong to Tevez as part of the build up for the third.

Was our best goal of the day the 5th? YaYa great touch, control and finish. On balance I think I'd rate Johnson's goal the best as there was more team play and the finish top class. YaYa involved once more.

MOM- DeJong.

Good to see Mancini give McGivern his debut. Even though he is obviosly left sided he looked comfortable on the ball and showed great confidence and compsure on one particular occasion in our box when he cleared the ball with great presence as to what was going on around him.
