Super Joey Hart?

The people blaming Hart are the same ones who moan he just lumps it forwrad. He cant win.

Absolutely not his fault, Fernandos touch and lack of awareness then was the issue. Fernando had a good game after though fair play play to him.

Not really - most complain that he lumps it forward when he could play short, not that he has to play it short all the time, like when he can see a world class forward is blindsiding the guy he's about to pass it to.

The blame is 20% Hart's, 80% Fernando. Both had very good games apart from that moment.

Brilliant penalty save to add to his list.

Another top performance in the big ;eague by Joe. He does love the CL doesnt he.(Needs to stop punching though and start catching)
The two aren't mutually exclusive you know. Lumping it forward at the right time is ok, as is playing it short at times. The discussion is mainly about wherever it was the right choice in this instance.
The penalty save was brilliant -unfortunately it was his lack of being able to catch the ball and choosing to punch that put us under pressure to start with, so although you've added it as a sort of afterthought it's a very real weakness to his game.

I would attach no blame to Hart on the pass to Nando. Not read earlier pages but I assume plenty have pointed out that short passes like that to guys who will get closed down will be part of Pep's requirements.

If you wanted to be really picky, you could claim Hart should have passed the ball to the other side of Nando so it was easier for Nando to pass to Ota but nothing excuses Nando's woeful control or slow reactions; not that I want to see Nando crucified.

I do wonder whether Hart should have moved back into is goal more quickly rather than standing telling Nando what to do with the ball? However, staying where he was maybe made him a safer option for back pass: more likely to go for a corner than an o.g. if it went wrong.

Hart's pass was a basic schoolboy error. Take a look at Barca playing the ball out. The goalie passes it out wide where the player receiving can see ahead and around. Playing it forward to a player who then has to be facing his own goal is asking for an interception.

It's also poor by the manager. It's something that should have been drilled. Something so simple it's almost stupid but it caught us out last night.

I would say 50 50 to be honest the ball should have been played out wide but that said Fernando was woeful he should have been able to deal with it better.

I have raised Joe's punching habit on a number of occasions. In his defence it can often be viewed as the best option as if executed properly it eliminates the possibility of dropping the ball at an opponents feet. However, there are times when a ball into the box has goalkeeper just written all over it and the very last thing he should be thinking about is punching the ball. I fear that it has almost got to the stage with Joe that he suffers from a kind of punch addiction and he finds it difficult to catch a ball cleanly.

Now this I can agree with.
