Maybe, but the ball had to travel that distance to get to Nando - was bad play by them both, but Nando's was the worst error.
I've just watched some highlights from a link on this forum - Joe had three close options - two had players hovering close by, the third (over on the left of the pitch) didn't have an opponent near him. And from viewing those highlights the score line was very good for us as they had many chances to put the tie beyond us, so all in all let's move on and focus on the next game - against WBA.

Probably should have recognised that he wasn't giving it to someone like Silva or Toure who can receive the ball under somewhat pressure. Add to the fact that in big games we rarely ever play the short ball, so it was just bizarre.
Although a top team should really be playing out from the back.
Fernando was at fault, after his wank first touch he made the wrong choice and tried to lash it away. He should have known that Hart could have been on for the return ball and Sagna was on for the pass too. Fuck me I played last night and I took passes from the keeper under more pressure and didn't lose it, and I'm shite.

Well he's our goalkeeper so it makes sense there would be more scrutiny put on him from his own fan base.
It wasn't a case of him making an absolute howler but he played a significant part in a needless goal conceded. I'd expect it to be discussed on Bluemoon.
There is the entire length of the D between Fernando and Ibra and Joe and Sagna are standing there to receive a pass back. Fernando's poor footballing skills cost us.
watch the top teams who play it out from the back (which we have sadly abandoned this and last season) and the amount of room Fernando has here is totally standard, nearly luxurious. We need players who are totally comfortable in this situation. Hart has little to no blame here.

No he gave it to a 28 year old veteran of over 180 top level matches. Nando should be expected to be able to control it sufficiently given that the pressure you refer him to be under was well over ten yards away (as per video earlier) and the point someone made re the time the ball takes to travel should be taken into account is laughable. Regarding the second point don't you agree that 90% of the time JH is getting slaughtered on here for his distribution (namely the fact he kicks it long). So isn't it a bit odd to be having a pop at him for playing a short ball?

Maybe Hart should not have played this pass but this was totally Nando's fault.
Lets just hope the monumental cock up doesn't come back to haunt us..

What annoyed me about Joe's part in the goal wasn't the initial pass but that he just stood there pointing as he saw Fernando getting in trouble. if he scuttles back into goal once he plays the pass the ball goes straight back to him
Ibra is already closing in at that stage and is less than a yard or two away when Fernando takes his first (poor) touch.
The standard pass would have been to otamendi who was to the side who would have had an option in front or back to the keeper.
It wasn't the right choice for me.
