it is a shame the Man City will likely let him go. He's a more than adequate Midfielder whom we could use half-way through the season. It's a damn shame.

I met Shauny whilst he was out here in Guatemala and asked him the obvious question of whether he would be staying with us this summer. His response was an unequivocal YES and that he was going nowhere. I was very happy to hear it at the time and am gutted he might now be leaving. I know he's not the best we've got and isn't what he used to be but I love having him at city. Heart over head I guess.

In my opinion a successful team (or squad these days) needs a backbone which I believe we currently have in the likes of Hart/Kompany/De Jong/Silva & now Aguero? It also needs a heart which I believe Shauny has in spades.
Apart from my admiration for SWP as a player, I am also concerned that we may end up lacking the necessary heart and soul required to make the next step if we ignore what SWP brings to the squad.
So save the Shauny I say. He provides an important link between the old City and the new.

I've said before that if he wants first team football then he has to leave. However, if he's happy to be part of the team, and have appearances from the bench in the Prem, CL, FA Cup and that other one, then I'd be more than happy for him to stay. As an impact player I still think he has a role.

QPR and Paris Saint-Germain have joined the race for Manchester City winger Shaun-Wright Phillips.
The big-spending French club have offered £2.5million for Wright-Phillips, who is also wanted by Bolton, Stoke and Wigan.
