My best mate that i grew up with died in 2016,35 years of supporting city together,i started a thread on here through drunkeness and utter despair at the time of his passing,but i wouldn't have ever thought to ask for a minutes silence or applause for him,everyone knows that attends games ,its done at the game closest to new year.That should be the end to this sensitive topic once and for all.No blue is bigger or better or special than an other.

There's a minutes applause organised by the club Tommorow at 19 mins 18 seconds into The game to commemorate the ending of the war.
I actually disagree with this too, not having the silence which we should but the necessity to have it during the game. To my knowledge the war didn't finish at 4.49 and 18 seconds, the whole day is 100 years since the end of the war so do something alongside the usual minutes silence before the game.
Gonna be a distraction for The players and got forbid theirs a goal at 4.49, if so do we get accused of disrespecting the war dead?

Would prefer a minutes applause , when a minutes silence is given our supporters always respect this , but you can here late comers on the concourse and and some noise filters through to the ground from the bar areas , maybe stewards on the concourse should do more to keep the silence in these areas , but also felt sorry for a an old guy behind me in the South Stand against Southampton who's mobile chose to go off and he was fighting with the damn thing for about 15 seconds to turn it off , talk about bad timing. A minutes applause is every bit as respectful as a silence.
