Re: Team for the opening day of next season

Not forgetting being able to park his Bentley in disabled parking spaces! (He does have a bad back though to be fair).

Carvalho is a better footballer but JT is the kind of player you want 'cos you know he would die for the club. I've seen Carvalho have bad games just as JT has had. Both have suffered a lot with injuries over the past couple of seasons but with Carvalho coming upto 31, I wouldn't mind us letting him go. With Terry, even when his form is a bit off, you know he's still a great leader and can contribute in other ways. You're right - he might not be the best defender, but he has a lot of qualities - he isn't England skipper for nothing.

True - it means he can rugby tackle opposition players, abuse officials and make dangerous tackles without punishment ;o)

Yeah, and he does have a good replica of the peter schmeical star jump to a t. The protection from the FA is weird, but them rag f*ckers also seem to have that area covered, so we can't just tar john terry with that. Look at ronaldo's many kick outs this year (like a can can dancer) and SWP does one after GBH from Rory DeCrap and gets a 3 match ban.

I expect us to offload Ballack, Deco, Malouda, Ferreira + one of our centre backs (not JT) and possibly Drogba.

I don't want to be direspectful, i know Terry is a really good player, but chelsea fans too rate him really highly, and as seen before on this forum, would not be hugely welcome by all the city fans. I see the same with pulyol at barca, is it partly to do with there love for the club that they are so highly rate by there own fans, am i missing something as i don't watch them every week or do Chlsea fans not rate him that highly any way. Carvalho, for me, is a better player.

I know it cost him 5 mill and a night with his wife

Re: Team for the opening day of next season

Why do people persist in putting Kompany at centre half?

It's so damn obvious that Kompany alongside De Jong is the perfect midfield foil for our three attacking midfielders. Kompanys' talent is complete wasted at centre half. His ball winning ability and sheer athleticism is exactly what we need in midfield because SWP, Ireland and Robinho are so attack minded and lightweight. With the added protection of De Jong it also means he can push forward at times.

Re: Team for the opening day of next season

Lol @ dropping Ireland and Zabaleta from that team.

Maicon is turd, he looked real bad against the rags, and this year nedum has been miles better than Micah 'the beefcake' Richards. Cambiasso was impressive though.
