With Eto'o in our team, we'd be able to challenge for the Champions League trophy this year. I might well be called negative but at the moment I believe we have no real chance there, we need to grow and get one season in it under our belt etc - so quarter-finals at very best. But that's the difference Eto'o can make, he's that much of a winner, that much of an inspiration. As many have pointed out, he's a big part of what tipped the balance for Inter. All that Champions League experience, he's won the thing twice, and played in the final stages god knows how many seasons.

I think the team we have now is good enough to go a long way in the Champions league and as you say with the addition of Sam we could go all the way..just beacause we havent been in the competition doesnt mean that we wont be good in it.. Look at Spuds last year and how well they did,our squad is stronger than theirs so who knows... If we play say chelsea in the prem one week and then play them a week later in the CL, is the CL game any more difficult..?? of course not its just as difficult. Its the name of the Competition that strikes fear into teams rather than the teams in it...The scum do well in it year in year out yet last time we played them we won..
lets not forget just how strong we are..Its the others who need to worry..
add to the fact as well that we will have gelled alot more now and clichy sees to have really settled in well and from the videos the lads seem to like him it bolds very well for better understanding on the field.having vinny as captain i think will make the team stronger as well as they all seem to look up to vinny and respect him!!

Surely the need for four strikers is obvious.

Just look to Sunday, Dzeko and Ballotelli in the team, Aguero has a stomach bug = no striker on the bench, not an established one anyway.
aguero will make it mate!!! even if its just the bench he`ll be there.

reckon his stomach bug aint gonna last tuesday to sunday mate, agree he will be there, most likely on the bench

I very much doubt we will play two strikers against the rags on Sunday so one will play one will on the bench so short term it's not really an issue. Longer term your right, I can't see us going into the season without 4 strikers... so we either have to buy or mend bridges with someone......

I can think of alot of teams who dont have 4 world class strikers and some of them who even play 2 strikers up front. dont know why city are the only one who needs 4.

To me it's more the point that right now you have 3 strikers 2 are unproven in the Prem League(Dzeko and Aguero)Aguero being from South America we already know the issues flying back and forth for International duties causes(and I'm assuming he settles fine). That leaves Ballotelli who already is banned at the start of the CL this season and will more than likely stack up many more acts that will lose him for games throughout the course of the season. So the 3 strikers becomes one really quickly, so with this club at this time and considering the personal 4 strikers would seem logical.

There are advantages, but there are also disadvantages. I can understand why Mancini wants him, but i can also understand the board's view. In the FFP era, it is not wise to bring in players that will have no re-sale value.

I also think it will be difficult to agree a deal with Inter. Both clubs will place wildly different valuations on Tevez and Eto'o, so i really don't see this happening.

That being said trev, if we were to say keep tevez till jan and let him go for 40 m who do you bring in as a replacement then, in that calibre of striker i can only think of rossi who is up for sale.

Because neither Balotelli's knee nor his temperament can be relied on for an entire season
