Tevez to return (Merged)

Carlos Tevez is on the verge of dropping his appeal to the Premier League over the £1.18million fine imposed by Manchester City after he fled to Argentina last November.

The striker's stand-off with City has already cost him around £9m, but withdrawing his appeal could lead to a considerable thawing of his relationship with the club.

Roberto Mancini insisted the door was still open for Tevez to play for City again, but reiterated he expected an apology from the 28-year-old.

The City manager said: 'It's up to him. Carlo knows everything. We are here and nothing has changed.

'Carlo is a City player. We've been expecting him for three months. An apology would be normal. Carlo can play and train if he is in good condition to play and train.

'I didn't have a problem and the club don't have a problem. I will always shake his hand as I forgive people all the time.'

Tevez is expected back at training at City on Tuesday after he was unable to find a new club during the January transfer window.

He was due to arrive back in England from South America late on Sunday night.

It is understood Tevez is set to tell City he does not wish to challenge the club's decision to fine him, something that he indicated he would do when the window closed on January 31.

Tevez was fined six weeks' wages by City after being found guilty of gross misconduct in mid-December.

An appeal to the club's board failed in January.

The striker also lost a further six weeks' wages after City stopped paying him, as well as any rights to a £6m loyalty bonus.

Yeah, Yaya, Silva, Kompany, Hart etc. had nothing to do with it... It's amazing how well our one-man team has done without him this season. As I predicted, I said we'd done fine without him this season and low and behold we have done. Some of the people here would have been with Merson in saying we'd finish lower than third without Tevez. You've been proven wrong, accept it.

I hate him for what hes done but that is absolute shite. You take any one of the players you mentioned out of the team in the previous season or 2 and we could possibly still have taken the leap from mid table - champions league. You take Tevez out and there is no way we would of.

Tevez scored 50 odd goals in 2 seasons in a side that was set up primarily to defend. None of our current strikers would reach the 20 goal mark if we played the way we did last 2 seasons. Thats not a criticism of Mancinis tactics, because we werent a negative boring team like the media made out, just more emphasis on defending. Having learnt to do that, this season Mancini has gone for it in every game.

Merson has been proven wrong, undoubtedly. We no longer rely on Tevez and we are 2 points clear. However, every city fan with half an idea about football would have to concede that a commited Carlos Tevez would score absolute hat fulls in our current set up. And had he bided his time, not spat his dummy out in munich and just waited for the Aguero/ Dzeko purple patch to end, he would currently be first choice striker and we would have a lead similar to that Madrid have in la liga. The premiership would be virtually won.

IF Mancini and the players are prepared to accept him back, and (big) IF Tevez wants to come back and play football for us rather than sulk n pick up his wages, then we are getting one of the best players in the world back into what is already a very good squad. Tevez at his best til the end of the season wins us this premier league.
Apart from the fact that the statistics of games with and without him indicate our record is only five points and three goals difference over a season, which would have gotten us Champions League football.

I think we are a better team side now, and better teams score more goals and rely less on individuals, and look we are doing... Strange how we didn't win it with him last season then isn't it. All our major players were here last season apart from Aguero who was Tevez's replacement. But we're doing better this season... Expecting to here some bollocks like Mancini's taken the shackles off or something.

Or he upsets the balance of the squad and the style of play as Rodney Marsh did in 72.

i would reply to your points but i already covered them in my first post. every city fan with half a footballing brain cell knows that had Tevez knuckled down n not done his munich lark, and been commited all season, the league title would be virtually won already.

No new quotes, they are just rephrasing what Mancini said in the last 48 hours.

I am waiting for new quotes from Tevez or Kia to know whats on their mind, because Mancini didn't confirm Tevez truce yet.

Well done for tackling my argument based on fact with an insult which assumes you having half a football brain and me not. Why didn't we win it last season? Oh won't someone please think of the shackles...

Tevez should release a statement saying....

" looking back at Munich makes me embarrassed and the way I reacted was a disgrace and I apologise to Mancini my team mates and especially the fans who I let Down"

Hopefully I'll get another chance at this great club to put right the wrong and help mcfc win the title...

Would something like this appease us as fans or would it be to little to late?

My own thoughts are if he comes back and contributes to us winning the league it's all good, but can't see him apologising he's to proud...

He can release as many statements as he wishes, will not make any difference to me. Still makes me sick to see him in the FA Cup pics tbh.

Not only that, but these quotes were in response to questions about news that Teves might return which came from nowhere. This whole rehashing of the Teves debate is only from press speculation. There is nothing new.

But according to twitter, skysport sources understand Tevez will come to Manchester this Tuesday !

And the reporter who asked Mancini after the match said Tevez told Skysports he wants to come back ! but Mancini answer was something like " City in Manchester and we didn't change our location, If Carlos wants to come back he know what he should do ! "

Which gives you an indication that its not over yet !

What fuckin truce? He's an employee ffs. He needs to report fit for duty and prove himself. fit for purpose as a professional footballer.
He also should arrive with one fuck off olive branch hanging out of his arse pocket.
