Tevez to return (Merged)

The Argentina international has not played for City since his infamous refusal to warm-up during the UEFA Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich in September.

His City career appeared to be over and he has spent the past couple of months back in his homeland after failing to secure a January move away from the Etihad Stadium.

However, Tevez is due to return to Manchester this week and could now play a part in City's bid to win the Premier League title.

Paul McCarthy, who is an advisor to Tevez's representative Kia Joorabchian, has confirmed there have been discussions recently which have paved the way for the forward to return to Roberto Mancini's squad.

"He needs to be back and he needs to be pulling on the Manchester City shirt again and doing what he does best, which is scoring goals and helping the team."

"There's been a lot of negotiation behind the scenes and there have been some very sensible discussions which have taken place in the last 10 days, and there has been a thawing on both sides," McCarthy told Sky Sports News.

"Carlos wants to be back and he wants to be playing football again. Roberto Mancini has more than opened the door for him and now it's a case of him getting his fitness back.

"He wants to be back playing football, that's what he's best at doing.

"The couple of seasons before this year, which has obviously been fairly awful in terms of everything that's gone on post-Munich, he was the leading goalscorer for Manchester City.

"He needs to be back and he needs to be pulling on the Manchester City shirt again and doing what he does best, which is scoring goals and helping the team.

"He wants to help Manchester City to win the title.

"Roberto Mancini has opened the door now and, once Carlos is back in the country and once he gets his fitness back, he'll be an asset to Man City."

^^^that shit made me want to put a brick through my TV.^^^

What I would have responded to the part about Tevez wanting to help City win the title would have been, "Then why did he fuck off to Argentina then?"

Really not happy about this. Mancini made a fantastically strong statement back in September and now looks weak.

Tevez is a **** and we need to show him that we're the stronger party. We need to show our strength to the rest of the world and to other players.

His return sends out all the wrong messages. Ye, he might come back and get us a couple of goals but it could be damaging long term to our power and reputation.

Not happy about the prospect of Tevez playing for us again but if Liverpool are happy to let Suarez wear their shirt i guess anything is possible

Guys come on. We are paying that ugly fuck, we might as well play him because he still is our best striker. But Im sure he wont be starting games though, as Bobby said, he needs more attacking options from the bench.

I am ambivalent, I will never forgive Carlos this season but I will never forget the two before. Ultimately if his team mates will have him back, the manager picks him and he works hard then that is their call and I will support it. Believe me I would rather come first with him playing than behind Ferdinand Rooney and those other scum bags. My worry is that he upsets team spirit!

I would suggest you missed the word "was" before the opperative word "best" here.

I don't think it makes him look weak , obviously it was a very emotional incident for him as the Manager , people understand why he said those words , he has since then offered the olive branch several times , if anything it puts the Club and Mancini in a stronger position , as Khaldoon stated , things will happen on our terms.

Personally I don't want him near our club , but Mancini must have spoken to the players and if he plays him so be it.

I just want to win the league AT ALL COSTS...but this just smacks of "The Carlos and Kia Show"...

...timed perfectly, AGAIN to deflect from the teams fantastic achievements...he did it last season too. Just as the pressure is on...the focus of the end of the season, and he pops up an tries to unsettle things.
