Tevez

My knickers are completely twist free, I feel more a sense of pity for you that you seem unable to understand a fairly basic football point. I'll give it one last go to explain it to you, care in the community and all that.

Carlos Tevez has played 79 games for City. 66 games before the 2011-2012 season and 13 in the 2011-2012 season.

City started playing fast, attacking, one touch football in the 2011-2012 season. Previous to that City played a slow build up cagey defensive style under Mancini, and some kind of terrible ineffective counter attack under Hughesless.

So, for the 66 games before last season Tevez did not play fast, attacking, one touch football, because he was not asked or required to. In the 13 games where he was asked to play fast, attacking, one touch football, he did so, and he did it very well.

To say Tevez doesn't "usually" play fast, attacking football is correct in the sense that he has played 66 games in a system where he was not expected to. But in the 13 games where he was expected to play fast, attacking, one touch football, he has done so extremely well.

Saying Tevez doesn't "usually" play fast, attacking, one touch football is like saying Tevez doesn't "usually" wear a red and black striped away shirt for City. It's factually correct, but completely irrelevant.
Again, you seem to think I meant he can't and seem to be taking it personally.

I am right in my saying he doesn't usually playing fast one touch stuff, even this season outside of 2 games at the tail of the season. He is a direct player, he wants to get on the ball and run with it, has done his whole career.

Now, stop derailing the thread.

I refer you to my previous post.

You seem to want me to be taking it personally for some reason, but I assure you I'm not. Good luck with winding others up, but I'm a bit grown up for that.
I fail to see how I'm winding people up.

I made an initial comment, a correct one at that.

You have blown it out of proportion. So please, step down of your high horse and derail another thread.

I suppose if you can't say he can play that way then you'd certainly say he's effective, whichever style Mancini chooses.

The one thing I will say is that he didn't look out of place when he came back and I'd suggest he was the option that we sorely missed, especially when we were going through that 'This Tippy Tappy stuff isn't working' spell.

One touch, fast flowing or not, he fitted straight into the system when he came back.

Nothing more to say really.

Saying things like I'm "getting my knickers in a twist" and "taking it personally." I'm flattered that you see it as a good use of your time to try and get a reaction out of me, but I don't get wound up so easily just because people don't understand my posts.

Talking about how wound up I am, or how twisted my knickers are, is derailing the thread, so let's not continue that debate.

If you want to respond to my earlier post where I have pulled apart your point about Tevez not "usually" playing that style, I'll happily continue the debate. I fear there is nowhere left for you to go with that debate in a footballing sense though, so that is why you have chosen to deflect attention from it.

Well, I've only really followed Tevez's career since he came to England, that's 6 years ago.

And in those 6 years, his style of play has always been direct/running with the ball.

I still fail to see how there can be a debate from my initial comment? As I've said, I feel you have blown it out of proportion.

I disagree that his style has always been direct / running with the ball. Whereas this may be true initially at City, this is what he was asked to do by the managers. Since we changed our style of play last season, Tevez has also altered his style to fit in with the team.

He has ran less with the ball, and moved the ball quickly to the other players around him, and has fit seamlessly in to our new intricate, fast passing style.

So my comment that he doesn't usually play fast paced football (over the course of his whole career) would be correct, and the last 2 and a bit pages have been pointless.

Glad that's cleared up.

Ok, let's say Tevez has not played fast paced football for the majority of his career.

Now let's move the debate on a stage. Tevez can fit seamlessly in to slow paced teams, or fast paced attacking teams and be outstanding in each.

The only reason the last two pages would be pointless is if you still fail understand the second point.

Tevez is a class act and would walk into any team in the premier league, him and aguero together for a full season..... Can't wait.
