That family stand empty section post half time

You've lost it mate. The game was sold out for weeks if not months. We're talking about an admin issue here not the commitment of supporters.

Exactly. If the game was sold out, why were there swaths of empty seats scattered around the stadium, predominantly in the FS, like there always is? If these are ST holders picking and choosing games to go to, which is a common trend we're seeing more of, that's exactly a question of commitment.

Obviously some of these seats were likely given out for free to schools etc, but they are not the only culprits here. There's simply too many areas going unfilled for that to be the case.

With this game selling out weeks in advance, these empty seats could have been filled by people that genuinely wanted to be there, but they were left empty, because people couldn't be bothered to turn up for what was a huge game.

Good idea that! It is badly designed though. Quite a bottle neck too down the stairs at the end.

Yeah it is poorly designed to get out, maybe it’s the only thing they could do to get it to be aesthetically compatible with the rest of the stadium.

It’s only ever another 2-5 mins though at the end.

I am trying to get a couple of tickets for two friends in Portugal who are City fans. I have looked at the last few home games on the planner and I see that the Leicester and Tottenham matches are shown as sold out. The games against Watford and Cardiff still shows ''buy tickets'' but when you get the stadium plan on screen it shows all tickets sold. Presumably some will become available nearer the time on the ticket exchange. It's kinda weird hearing about all these group allocations of seats as though the demand is not there. I am sure loads of City fans are doing the same as me in looking for tickets on the website for future games and seeing that there aren't any available. When you then see empty seats on the actual matchday it becomes very frustrating. It would be great if those City fans who are involved in meetings with City staff could raise these issues and get some clarification on this whole ticket situation.

That group disappearing at half time was a bit odd but just wondering could they have been something to do with the Chelsea women’s team?.

Totally agree with this but I don't believe we lost a generation of fans to the scum in the 70's and 80's.
I think we lost a fair few. I reckon it was pretty hard for a kid to support City unless their mum or dad was a Blue. I think that period gave rise to a large generation of radio reds, never went but followed them on the radio (and then sky) - typically gobby wankers, whereas Blues of that age typically went to the games.

I think the key is to not punish people for not turning up, but to reward people for turning up
Fortunately the club will never do as you and others say, and rightly so too. I've never got why it winds so many fuckin blues up, the twat in front of me never shuts his mouth about empty seats and what it looks like on t.v, aswel as getting ribbed off his rag mates. He's relentless with it.

Who gives a fuck if someone misses a game.

To your points. Are all fans up to speed with the ticket exchange? My dad is no in any way tech orientated and i handle all online matters so that is 1 ST out of 2 - if this was blown up does 17k STs holders out of 35k do not know how to use the exchange or actively use it when all other options exhausted.

I know city tweet out to encourage those who cant make to add their ticket. But, In that instance, is there many out there who are not tech savy / aware of the exchange or just dont know how it works? I Would like to see the data on that...

South stand 3 always does but hardly anyone calls them over it, always the family stand .
I'm in south stand 3, always stay till end, but can understand people leaving early, exits badly designed, accident waiting to happen in my opinion

It was sold out. The topic concerns a small block that was vacated in the 2nd half. And no there weren't swathes of empty seats as is readily apparent from the coverage.

I suppose it depends on what people mean by "lose" fans. I doubt many disappeared as such, but City just didn't gain many - that generation absolutely went to United. Most people who say they have an affiliation don't go, whether that be City, United or whoever. It's only a relatively small proportion who do go to matches.

Put it this way, I'm no regular, no season ticket holder, and I go to more City matches 300 miles from home than most Arsenal, Spurs or whoever fans around me do when they're close by.

What City lost was a generation of kids who held a City identity, and within that a similar proportion of match goers. It's changing. But it takes time.

What I always wonder when I read these kind of threads is: How do so many people notice that there are empty seats? I am so busy watching the superb football we are playing that I don't see empty seats, I see a field of 22 young men 11 of whom are playing their hearts out for my team, City, and trying to beat the other 11. Is it me? Am I being stupid to think that the football is what I am there for not to count empty seats?

Why are people so bothered? Is it because their mates who support other teams might take the mickey out of them? Just point them in the direction of the pitch, the fact that we are still in 4, yes FOUR, competitions, we are playing absolutely awesome football and leave them to stew on that.

Sorry................... just my humble opinion.............. watch the football, not the empty seats. Those empty seats are not awesome, they are not fascinating, they are not playing football the likes of which I've never seen in all my years of supporting City. Watch the football. :-)

Right, I have read so many complaints about the FS stand over the years and never bothered to post a reply but this arrant nonsense has really got my goat. Yes there is an issue with the blocks of seats the CLUB decide to make available only to certain groups but the idea that the FS stand doesn't celebrate goals is complete rubbish. Just look at the coverage of any of the goals scored at that end and you will see how wrong you are. I also want to take issue with the idea that the FS "hasn't worked" by using my own example. I live in London and have 3 kids and we have all had seats in the FS from when I figured my youngest could stand a 400 mile round trip and 2 hours at the game - which was aged 4 nine years ago. We get to every game we can (despite for example getting home at 22:00 after Arsenal with school the next day) but yes we do miss many of the midweek games as I either have to drive there and back and get home at 01:30 or stay over and get a train at 05:30. But what the club has now got is 3 teenage fans who are regular match goers, have also been to every away ground we can get to (points allowing but let's not go there) and, in my daughter's case, are now used to travelling independently to watch City. She is now at Uni in Nottingham and still comes up by train on her own for the games. Isn't this the very demographic we keep saying the club needs? It clearly hasn't all been down to the FS but it has certainly been facilitated by it, not least because of the affordability (my 4 tickets still cost less than the 1 that a lot of the Arsenal fans round here have). I appreciate a lot of us think that only seeing 10% of any game and standing ankle deep in piss in the Kippax is a rite of passage but times have changed. The ability to know your kid can sit down and still see the game, can get food/drink on their own, can go to the loo etc made the years when the kids were 4/5/6 etc much much easier and now means the family has their 4th generation of Blues who have been to 10X the games compared to their mates round here who support Arse, Spurs and Chelsea. Rant over.
Spot on mate without the family stand we wouldnt be watching city and the lad wouldnt be travelling the length of the country watching city away.
Does my fuckin head in the stick the north stand gets stick the kids in with the stand up arm folders in the south stand see how that goes !!

I didn't notice the block of empty seats in FS 2nd half when the game was going on but TBF when watching the highlights it sticks out like a sore thumb...

The empty seat nonsense comes from supporters of teams who cannot compete with the standard of football produced by City . It's called jealousy and stupidity .

I sincerely hope that you are not implying that I am a red. I think that there are enough people on here who can tell you my credentials and I am a Blue through and through!!!

I apologise if you are saying that them coming out of hibernation is why people are concerned about the empty seats.

I think Marvin meant that the f*ckwits who comment about " empty seats " are reds - rags or dippers - they are really no different.

Was full at the start, then 2nd half a large block to the left of the goal as we look had gone. On second viewing, still there for Sergio’s Pen.
