Re: The 2012 Olympics Thread (5th August, Page 131)
Great day yesterday. At last, all the money put into the development of our track athletes has paid back. I loved watching Mo Farah win that 10k, and he was so calm all the way through. Ennis was great in the Heptathlon as well. I couldn't believe we won the long jump - good God!
At some point, someone needs to speak to the BBC commentary team - they are steadily getting worse. The hyperbole after Ennis won the gold was something that I've not heard for a long, long time and I doubt that Sky would have done it worse. They'll hide behind the excuse that they were excited, but that's not good enough. Couple of examples of way, way, way over the top bullshit:
1. She'll be on the front page of every newspaper in the world tomorrow. No she won't. Every paper in the rest of the world will be concentrating on their own athletes. In fact, I would suggest that Mo Farah will get more coverage, as the African papers will probably wonder why a Brit has beaten them in their own event.
2. People will be asking in years to come where they were when she won it! FUCK OFF YOU TIT. It's the Heptathlon, we only watch it because we have someone in it, otherwise we'd pay it the same attention we pay to the high jump, or the pole vault.
3. One of the morons even likened it to the coverage of the the first 4 minute mile - fucking really!
Anyway, BBC aside, it was just a great day. Absolutely loving the coverage from the Velodrome - they've got it spot on, and the athletics numpties could do with listening in to them.
