Re: so this agenda thing.

Excellent points Chris, but how on earth did you manage to listen to that screechy harridan without putting your foot through the tele?

She's a Liverpool fan, based in Fulham, and a regular on the Times podcast, something i usually download unless aforementioned Alyson is on

Another shocking display from the officials :)

Agreed. Dowd was his usual self and only missing a Palace shirt for whom he gave a free kick every time they fell to the floor.

Oh, you mean the disallowed goal by the same linesman who missed a blatent shirt pull on Navas for a penalty when Zabba went through and missed first half?

I thought she was being dry and sarcastic. If you watched the rest of the show she was Uber sarcastic. I liked her approach. For a Liverpool fan she gave grief to Brendan big time. She also felt Bale was just what united needed (another striker) etc

I couldn't possibly comment on Sunday Suppository as I never watch it, my comments were aimed at the woman herself and why I dislike her voice and hence have had to change my podcast listening habits

Interesting snippet on Sunday Supplement this morning. Alison Rudd was talking about Real Madrid and commenting on the way they sign people for mega bucks but then make them work their socks off.

Neil Ashton asked her why that was okay, but if Manchester City paid £40m for a player there was widespread outrage that City was ruining football. Her answer - I do not paraphrase - was that it was different for Real Madrd because they've always done it that way.

The people who usually argue that there is no agenda usually mean that there is no global conspiracy aimed at thwarting Manchester City. That is not what I have in mind when I think about an 'agenda'. For me, the agenda is right there in Alyson Rudd's comment - there is an underlying assumption that City should know their place in football's grand scheme of things, and it is not at football's top table; there is an established order, we are not part of it, and we have no business trying to include ourselves within it.

That mentality infects an awful lot of the media, and it infects UEFA too. Given they way City has been treated by UEFA and by the media, I sometimes genuinely wonder how it can be that there are blues who cannot see it.
Well said Chris.

These journalists are afflicted with Uncle Tom syndrome when it comes to the established clubs; sad, pathetic wankers that they are.

Dowd was awful, gave us nothing and was blatantly giving every 50/50 to palace. The idea that a poor decision by his linesman somehow absolves him of any blame for being a fat shithouse fucktard is as laughable as the idea that there's no agenda.. :)

No way can Dowd book any player ever, if he's ever booked one at all, for timewasting. Speroni was at it from the first goal kick. It is so obvious to even the partially sighted what he is up to, though he has some way to go to beat Schwarzer, and it is perhaps the one thing that might get us FOCs from 323 invading the pitch to question what the whistling wanker is up to! He then had the temerity when Joe was over-long on ONE goalkick he had the temerity to suggest that both goalkeepers were indulging in the same tactic. If that is the case, book 'em both!!
