The Agenda: Part Deux

The anti-agenda

"We are going to impose our agenda on the coverage by dealing with issues and subjects that we choose to deal with".
-Richard M. Cohen, former Senior Producer of CBS-

"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."
-Richard Salant, former CBS News President-

"There is not one of you who dare to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the street looking for another job"
- John Swinton, former chief of staff, The New York Times

Now that we have climbed to the top of the league, the constant sniping re Mancini, team performance, and antics on the training ground are gonna sound a little hollow, and not a little peevishly malicious (yer know what the Rag meedya are like!) so I fancy the next part at undermining MCFC's attempts to retain the title will shift to having a go at individual players. Joe Hart was first up, and I think there is a clear attempt to persuade Woy that Joe is not the automatic choice for England and other goalies are worthy replacements.

Once that hatchet job is up and fully running, I suspect that a striker will be the next target - one who has scored less goals than the others.

The third target will be players who either get onto the bench but are unused and those that don't even make the bench.

think all of this is spot on, i love how a goal v spurs that has people split 50-50 on should he of saved it and an off day for England gets people saying "a poor run of games" and " having a bad spell " also think this he cant save to his left thing is gonna catch on and people just gonna say it without thinking, i stopped worrying about that opening day v Spurs 2 seasons ago

Looking at the headwear, I'm guessing that's Suarez?

hope your not suggesting a future city centre forward is a grand chief

What I said after last week's victory over Spurs is just as applicable this week. Why are some so caught up in talking about the media after we win. It's just stupid. What's stupider is that the loudest moaners about the media after a victory (yeah, I'm looking directly at you Pam) are those who moan loudest if anyone dares come on the forum and have a whinge after a defeat or a poor performance. You'd think if you want the right to act out and vent your spleen after we win then you'd afford the same courtesy to those who want a whinge after we don't win.

Ahhh the great contradictions of Bluemoon.

It appears the whole pro-rag machine is operating in subtle and clever ways this weekend. Every paper is full of praise for the way we played yesterday, and our return to the top of the table. The referees are part of this too, bearing in mind we got given a ridiculous non-penalty at a crucial time in the game, and man united had a great shout turned down.

The dark lords of football have obviously decided this week to lull us into a false sense of security as a club. Maybe they've been reading bluemoon and seen how close to the sinister truth some of you have been getting.

I only buy the papers that slate us I love a good moan agenda mentality

Never bought papers that I agree with. It's the ones who'd want to fuck me up that I buy (if I bought any!!)- see what they're saying!

Some of us are interested in the media and it's relationship to the club. It's a City forum, I don't get why there is a taboo about discussing something that is closely related to the club.

Seems to me that a lot of the people that aren't interesting in talking about the media seem to get upset that anyone discusses it at all. Surely they could click on another thread, and leave those that want to discuss the media do so.
