The Album Review Club - Week #145 - (page 1923) - Tellin' Stories - The Charlatans

One of those artists that I should like but apart from a few songs he does nothing for me.
Nothing in this for me.
The only song I was familiar with was Rosalita.Along with Born to run.Two songs I thought were great but he has never hit the heights for me lp wise since. The River being the first lp that I had heard from him.
So despite being a superstar I struggle with his music.A poor mans Neil Young..
3/10.

Wow. 3/10 isn’t ‘nothing for me’ it’s visceral hatred. What is it about the lyrics, songwriting and musicianship that makes you hate it that much?

Did nothing for me as with most of his stuff.
Found this to be pretty tuneless apart from Rosalita.
As I said one of those artists you think you should like but for some reason you don't.
It happens.
Lucky Town would have got a good review,I would put that in the only Springsteen lp that I liked.

A 3 for an album deems it pretty much unlistenable. It would have been more illuminating to learn a bit more about why you dislike the music so much but each to their own.

Lucky Town is one of my least favourite Springsteen albums, but each to their own
I suppose.

That's what music is all about.
Exactly, and that’s why this thread is so good and it’s interesting that although most of us don’t know each other we learn from our posts what our individual musical tastes are and yours and mine are quite similar, excepting your dislike for Springsteen and Jason Isbell which surprised me.However I think we are very much concur in our hatred for Rush lol.

I still do not understand how I love Jason Isbell in the DBT but not solo.

No I don’t get that either, the album i nominated was a solo one, maybe try one with his band The 400 Unit. ‘Live from Alabama’ might be a good one as it has a few of his DBT songs on it.
