The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Did it though, revive interst in this thread?

One week of a few extra Smiths fans and someone pissing on the thread does not a revival make. As much as I enjoyed and welcomed their contributions. If you think it needs reviving that is.

This week's nomination is arguably a classic one as well. We will have weeks where we feel that about certain albums, and ones that will happen naturally.

Personally, don't think anyone should go nominating stuff just because they are classic albums, nor avoiding putting them forward for that reason. Anyone can nominate anything for any reason in fairness, the main reasons in earlier posts above seem the most logical to me.
I'm trying to focus on records I think MIGHT appeal to the breadth of folks who post here, in that they are at least semi-accessible. I have plenty I like that I think are hard-edged enough that they wouldn't (especially punk and some particularly noisy alternative). I've toyed with tossing out some early hip-hop that I love but not sure how that would go over -- TBF I haven't been interested in the genre since the sampling laws were enforced anyhow. However, we've also had relatively little dance/electronic and I may take a flyer on some of that (and would welcome more nominations along those lines too . . .)

I‘d be interested in hearing some early hip hop, although it’s a genre I dont have in my collection apart from a few singles.I bought ‘Rappers Delight’ as it was big hit when I first visited the states back 1979 and played it to friends back in the UK.
ive enjoyed watching Rap films like ‘Straigh Outta Compton’ and ‘Notorious’.

Just an idea …
But each round could come with a condition?

Ie: has to be 60’s , or a 70’s round etc Heavy Metal round, Rap Round ….

Just throwing it out there

I'd say do it. Get those hard-edged things up, if they rock your boat and you think they need heard. Punk, noise, hip-hop, for a week, whats the harm.

My next one, is one I wanted to nominate first, when I joined. But I wasn't ready. Next round, I didn't think you lot were ready. Now I Know you are not, but I am, so this round it is.

I kind of like the thought of that. But might get spells where it becomes samey and repetitive for a few weeks in a row. You might get people losing interest and sitting out a theme. Or posters not having anything to contribute, to say a rap/grunge round etc.

Aye just seemed to get more reviews since the Smiths,Big Country and Van Halen.
I'm still enjoying this thread.

I'll take your word for it. I haven't noticed (Smiths aside). Might reflect in nominations as well, I'm sure we won't fail to notice it then.

Agree. But if you kept it at specifying a decade I think that would work without being restrictive at all.
