We have that player Gundagun, he is pure class on the ball not many better than him. His pass & retrieve is pure quality, him with Kroos & Dino would be heaven.

I think Gundagun comes in for Dino, then Dino takes a fullback roll, especially with the full backs tucking in like they appear to be.

Gundogan isn't the type of player to do Fernandinho's role in between the CB's, he's not defensive enough, that's why his best play for Dortmund came next to Weigl doing the defensive stuff. He's the kind of player who would replace Silva.

I seem to remember reading in Pep Confidential that Guardiola doesn't think Kroos is suited to playing as the pivot and only using him as part of a double or pushed higher up. Might have remembered that wrong but personally I don't think Kroos could be relied on to do the defensive side of that role.

That's right - he played over 50 times for Pep in 13/14, but not once in the pivot role.

You may not have noticed the numerous conversations which mention the fact that Denayer is a club trained City academy player, who qualifies for every competition without taking up a squad place in the 17. So if he's going, it won't be to make space there.

This is the thing that keeps bugging me. Why did we name him to the CL roster then? We didn't name Tosin but he traveled to Romania so he is clearly on the U21 list. They have the exact same status right? Scratching my head about this one.

Because we can play him if there are a lot of injuries. There will be a new list for the group stages.

You've missed the point.

Denayer should be u21 qualified - he qualifies as under 21 this season as his birthday was after 1/1/1995.

Yet for some reason he was named to the squad list when he didn't need to be.

My bad, din't really get that point.

Is it cause you have to have so many club and country trained players named? Maybe tosin wasnt named as if you are named with the full squad you can play in the youth competition? Just guesses!

No, you don't have to name a full 25 man squad, we could just name 17 'foreigners' plus as many U21's as we want as long as they've been with the club for 2 years.

My ow theory on that, is that it was done as a boost for him, that he was listed as a senior player rather than in the kids' group. A bit of Pep psychology to try & persuade him he is valued, because he isn't going to play him at the moment, as he's too busy working with the squad. Just a message to 'wait a bit'.

According to reports from Turkey, Pep is refusing to accept any loan deal which involves a permanent transfer at the end, as he sees him as a future first team player.
