Couldn't disagree more on the generational point. I don't think it can be differentiated so easily.

That generational argument is too simplistic, I've been watching City for over 50 years but I was frustrated and irritated by the last 2 seasons under Pellegrini - and although there are signs of progress this season we've been more or less marking time in the league mainly due to sloppy incompetence at each end of the pitch.

Top 4 is a must for the club every season and it's only a few seasons ago that Khaldoon indicated in his post-season review that top 2 was the expected target in the Prem every season. If we drop any more points before the semi final I can see Pep resting a few key players at Wembley in readiness for the derby.

with the run in we have it would be a disaster if we did not finish in the top 4,,ok there are 6 plus players going to leave in the summer and something tells me those players are not going to put a shift in towards the run in,,i'm sure we will scrap a third place,but we really should not be scrapping for top four at all,its not a given right but with the squad we have it should certainly be a banker

Ithought so at start of the season but events suggest the full backs have finished. We really messed up with the keeper which was a disaster and Kompany's injuries woes continued. We also have some of the most exciting players in the league, but its not balanced. We're in between teams. Half the work done, the rest to do this Summer
 
I am hopeful that we will finish 3rd. Just need to manage the games and pick the right players who are up for it. Having Vinny back was a boost. I fear the Leicester game - them fuckers will be wound up and buzzing around like bees - needs his A game out that day

Not at all, I'm not disregarding the FA Cup. I cant wait for the semi and will be very happy should we win it. I wouldn't even call it a bad season, just wouldn't rave about it and declare it a good year because the cup was won. Wigan won the cup and went down and have sunk and sunk, whilst I am sure they loved winning the cup, the day out for the fans and the upset I really cant see anyone declaring it as a good season.

I don't expect to win everything every year, what I expect is a team that's had countless money invested in it, has one of the best managers in the game to be at least challenging and not the season being pretty much over by Feb/March every year.

The common consensus in the press and punditry is that we were better than Chelsea yesterday, and in December (when we lost because a referee cheated us out of a blatant red card and penalty.), and against Spurs in January (when we lost because a referee cheated us out of a blatant red card and penalty).

Acting like we couldn't beat either Spurs or Chelsea if given another chance is ridiculous, I don't understand why some people on here have been infected with this "woe is me, we're so shit" pessimism.

It's certainly not "realistic".

This is why our expectations have been raised though

I watched City during the bleakness and the hope we could catch the Rags off guard and gain a bit of bragging rights at least once per season.

But I still get disappointed with the team now under performing the issue now is that reality kicks in for me and get a warm glow knowing where we now are.
