The battle for 3rd place

Christ karen thats an awful post from you it really is.

Your on the ref thread one minute as pissed off as the rest of us with the cheating yet moments later your all over the managers back.
I'm not on his back in that post,i'm countering the we played better in the games we have lost like that is some kind of moral victory,it's a results based business,i'm reading this after every loss and it makes no sense to me

So give us the we played better than you even though we lost trophy, performance and possession means nowt if you leave with no points

We know this current squad is not up to competing with the best Europe has to offer let alone the premier league but despite the poor record in the league especially against the top half sides we have been competitive and had chances in most of the games to come out on top.

Failing to get maximum points in 13 games from 30 isn't what the doctor ordered but you have to consider who we have , how long they have been here and their ability to implement a game plan.

When you consider that where we are is probably where we should be.

In any FA Cup tie any outcome is very possible as history shows.

We could win the Cup this year as easily as bombing out against Arsenal , luck and who wants it more on the day will come into play as it always does.

Felt the same all season, don't belittle blues who have a different opinion to you

There's a difference between having a different opinion, and being so intent on wallowing in misery that you pretend losing 2 close games means we've got no chance of winning ever again.

Do you think Luiz should have been sent off in December? Do you think KDB would score a tap in from 2 yards 99 times out of 100? Do you think the deflections off Kompany which stopped Stones equalising and cost us the first goal were unlucky? Do you think Kyle Walker should have been sent off? Do you think there was a blatant penalty on Gundogan before Chelsea's second?

If the answer is yes to any of those game changing moments, then we can win.

And the answer to those things quite obviously is yes.

I will always respect a different opinion when it's reasonable, but sorry, the idea we have absolutely no chance against teams we just narrowly lost to is not a reasonable opinion, and I'm going to point it out.

Thank you for a reasonable reply,we are where we are supposed to be giving the results no matter what happens in the games, that is really my point
I'm very hopefully after a good summer we will be great next year, the squad is too old in key positions and once we get that sorted we will be great i've no doubt

We have had some games that we haven't had the rub of the green and continued mistakes in the back half have cost us games as well but on any day we have every opportunity to beat anyone as any sensible poster would point out.

If we had little or no chance against Chelsea for example and it was well known this would be the case within our camp for example many would have backed Chelsea into 1.04 to win well before the game started.

We didn't finish as well as we could have and made a couple of errors that cost us two goals.

They way we set up and the personnel we have we can be and often will be punished especially by sides that don't need many opportunities to score.

This is the biggest issue that needs to be addressed over the summer along with getting in some players who can finish clinically.

Jesus Christ some people on here after a defeat are ridiculous. As I said, I don't know why some people are so desperate to be on a downer.
Your quite right mate. BLUEMOaN (according to recent Poll) is the top website for people with depression. -
( and I am not belittling depression. My wife suffered for years.).

I am hopeful that we will finish 3rd. Just need to manage the games and pick the right players who are up for it. Having Vinny back was a boost. I fear the Leicester game - them fuckers will be wound up and buzzing around like bees - needs his A game out that day

Once they are mathematically safe they will mentally ease off. Teams always do.

There are no guarantees Karen and all sides will be aiming to improve their squads and some will do so better than others as it will turn out but at least we have the resources to compete with the best and I am sure if our recruitment which has let us down in recent years isn't addressed with ruthless efficiency personnel will be replaced by those that have a better track record of achieving those aims bought in.

The better you get off the field invariably means the better you get on the field eventually and visa versa.

Not at all, I'm not disregarding the FA Cup. I cant wait for the semi and will be very happy should we win it. I wouldn't even call it a bad season, just wouldn't rave about it and declare it a good year because the cup was won. Wigan won the cup and went down and have sunk and sunk, whilst I am sure they loved winning the cup, the day out for the fans and the upset I really cant see anyone declaring it as a good season.

I don't expect to win everything every year, what I expect is a team that's had countless money invested in it, has one of the best managers in the game to be at least challenging and not the season being pretty much over by Feb/March every year.

Understood. By the way, I wasn't trying to slate you or yo

6 points from the Hull and Southampton games are now an absolute must. The rags surely can't slip up at Sunderland and I can see Moaninho parking the bus and taking a 0-0 at home to Chelsea so those extra 2 points could be vital ahead of the derby, we've shot ourselves in the foot with 3 draws and a defeat in the last 4 games.

Tend to agree with this.

If I'm being honest tho, I wouldn't mind us winning nothing and slipping out of the top 4 this season. it would penalise the club for the recent transfer policy, not addressing the issues we've had or not buying quality, and put some additional pressure on pep to get it right next season. If he's not walking out of here a winner then I don't want him to go with an intact reputation...sorry but that's how I feel about it.

What's with the winning the cup business? Some are talking like it's us in the semi's with Rochdale, Crewe and Southend.

We have a 25% chance of winning the cup like the other sides do.

I think iirc that so far we have conceded on avg 8 shots per game yet have conceded 34 goals in the league and sadly that points to just poor goal keeping, especially when you look at Bravo's save percentage which is frankly abysmal.

As a side we defend well up to a point and then its just all or nothing with way too often it being nothing and the ball in the back of the net whilst up the other end, yes we are profligate but teams do make us work much harder for the goal and we have to do the same.

The issue is generation of fans

City fans growing up prior to take over are still wetting themselves with joy at feeding at the top table and challenging for trophies

Fans after takeover disappointed in finishing top 4 and winning a cup (possibility)

In all honesty though all our expectations have risen through money no object and having Pep as manager, in reality though we still have a group of teams who now compete at high level and the league is now a top 6 and not a top 4

I still think 11 wins in our last 24 matches in the prem is disappointing given the manager and squad we have. My expectations were a bit higher than that.

Exactly this,as I said earlier there is always a chance City hurt us,we've become used to it,but if everyone is honest here,we all expected better, you are kidding yourselves if you think otherwise

Despite the money . prestige and competition for the club in Chumps and the perception no doubt in many peoples minds the reality of attracting better quality if your in the Chumps League it hasn't had a big impact on Chelsea and Liverpool this year being out of Europe altogether.

It didn't prevent Manure from getting the players they wanted last summer in the main no doubt either.

True.

I also want our owners to realise that when you don't invest properly or wisely you end up with a 'nearly' team....not quite good enough to win things but generally good enough to compete. I hope the club have this all planned out though and we spend some serious money brining the players pep wants and we can win with.

Seeing as we only just scraped 4th last season, seeing as we've still had to make do with the same useless fuckers at the back for huge swathes of the season, seeing as Pep decided that improving our forwards this year with young up and coming players, players who wouldn't be available next season so we bought them now, then no i'm not kidding myself. I expected a tough season. Christ even Pep told everyone after the first 10 games we weren't good enough but hardly anyone would listen and said it's all mind games.

Top 3 and a FA cup would be amazing considering the squad we have, especially at the back.

It was always going to take at least 3 transfer windows to sort because too many players are on top dollar and don't want to be shifted so we have had to let contracts run down to get rid.
Next year is the time to judge.
