The Boxing thread

Hammo pointed it out, three fight triologies over one belt are pretty meaningless when your arnt even undisputed. No one wants to fight for the undisputed belt as they are all more interested in making money.
We agree on that mate . They should be made to fight each other . The good thing with usyk is that he wants the fights and is willing to give way in negotiations to get the fights sorted . We need fury now to start moving quicker and get the fights sorted but I have a feeling he might pack in which would be a massive shame .

Has Fury beaten anyone who could also be classed as a great? Great fighters beat other great fighters, don't duck the other top contenders and fight more than once every eighteen months. For example, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Liston.

Look at his record and that of the greats and then come back to me when you have a decent argument. Fury is good, perhaps the best of his generation but even that isnt a sure thing until you are undisputed. Perhaps you should learn the history of the sport, rather than getting caught up in the hype of one moment.

You can't compare in that way though, they were different bloody generations, I've watched boxing all my life, nothing to do with being caught up in the hype, boxing has changed (not even saying for the better) you can't blame the boxers as it isn't even down to them who they fight nowadays.

Tyson Fury ?
Best heavyweight ever ?
Nah, nowhere near
Undefeated, fight anyone anywhere, switch hitter, more bottle than any heavyweight ever, overcome adversity and illness, wins titles in countries that have terrible records of dodgy verdicts, no bollocks with Tyson he is what he is.
Agree he’s not the best ever but to say nowhere near is laughable.
When he beats AJ and Usyk, he’d have wiped the floor with his generation and retire unbeaten.

Fury is the best of a really poor generation of heavyweights. In thirty years time, I reckon it'll only be in this country that he's talked about, rather like Bruno.

Tyson ducked people?
No, he didn't but that's what I'm saying. If I tried to list all the champions who fought everyone, I'd be here forever. These days, at nearly every weight, people are ducking each other and not unifying titles. Easier to make money for bogus , meaningless titles

Do the fighters actually get a choice of who they want to fight??, isn't it the governing bodies that decide?, the fact they all disagree on who's no 1 contender throws one huge spanner in the works, if they tell tell Fury to defend against whoever, then it's really hard to get an undisputed champion, curious to know who the governing bodies have as there no 1 contenders, re-match clauses don't help one bit
