Can anybody, and I mean anybody, see Gavin Rees even getting past the first couple of rounds without getting beaten to a pulp off Broner?

A mismatch if ever I've seen one.

Broner looks a class act and a class above Gavin the Rock Rees. He isnt too bad Rees a former World Champion at a weight level higher to what he is fighting at now. So Rees has got a good run of KOs in the lightweight division since he moved back down a weight. Koing all of the fighters he has fought he is strong at the weight in my opinion.

Broner is a exceptional talent best I have seen from the US in a long long time. He is full of himself got so much confidence in his ability and knows that he is unbeatable. He knows when he goes into the ring he is a class above who he fights. A bit like Naz when he was blasting fighters out of the ring when he fought them for his early years. Thats Broner to me a new Naz but just like Naz I want to see how good he is when he is in troble and see just how good he is.

I wouldnt be shocked if it goes to the cards but I wouldnt be shocked if Broner blasts Rees out of the ring within 5 rounds. Sky have Rees fighting for a world title then the next week have Brook fighting Alexander for the World title too so some good fights coming up on Sky in Feburary. Along with Frampton v Kiko its a good month of boxing on Sky.

Naz didnt have the heart to go on in my opinion. Thats what pissed me off with Naz he could of boxed against the likes of Manny Pacquiao , Erik Moreales and even Scott Harrison all that would of been great fights to have. He got out at the wrong time for me. I honestly think his heart wasnt when he got beaten.

fully agree mate, he didn't have the hunger anymore, with the right attitude i believe he could of been the best british fighter ever, think the Naz 95 up to the Kelly fight beats Barrera,

Barrera was just too smart for Naz. I will always say this put a smart fighter in with Naz and he always struggled to win by KO in my opinion. Naz struggled with the Pocket Rocket Wayne McCullough to put him away as he did with Cesar Soto to get the KO win a smart fighter always had Naz looking a bit amaturish in my opinion. I wont slate his work rate or his power he had in bags and bags but his heart wasnt in the fight game and thats why he wont go down as the best British fighter ever.

My top 5 British Fighters of my lifetime considering I am 31.
1 Joe Calzaghe A joy to watch the man could fight any fight shame his hands were bad.
2 Lennox Lewis The best Heavyweight of the 90s in my opinion.
3 Ricky Hatton Only got beaten by the best until recently.
4 Chris Eubank Just for his wars with Benn , Collins and Calzaghe.
5 Carl Froch Will be moving up that table by the time he calls it a day.

Just missing out on the top 5 Nigel Benn just think Froch out of the fighters still fighting has been in with the best all the time in his weight division.

agree in the main, but if we are only saying our lifetime im 34 so i would have Naz in over Hatton and Eubank, Naz was only beaten by the best also, and think pound for pound both at their best he knocks Hatton out and beats Eubank on points, agree with Calzaghe he just always found away to win, awesome.
Benn v Froch would be one for the ages
on the note about smart fighters giving Naz trouble maybe true but i would say no matter how smart they were they also needed a great fxxkin chin to last the distance and think we weren't seeing him at his best v both those fighters (post Kelly). McCollough said his power was unreal and it sent shivers down his spine when he got hit, was also surprised to read Barrera say Naz was the hardest hitter he ever faced, then Many Steward saying he just couldn't believe the man stood in front of him was the person hitting the pads, think this was his downfall though as he just thought whoever he hit would go and neglected the rest of his game

Naz had power no doubting it. He also had a great team backing him Brendan Ingle was keeping Naz's feet firmly on the ground during that time. He could of went to the top of those rankings if he had of stayed grounded. Saying that at the time Naz was a multi millionaire at a young age and money changed everything for Naz. His prep in some fights werent as good as before. He started to over look some fighters in the later fights. Barerra was a prime fighter like Naz at the time and there was no harm in losing to Barerra back then but his return fight he looked a shadow of himself that defeat drained all his confidence and no wonder he retired.

As for fights never made Calzaghe v Collins would of been a great fight to see aswell. I think it may have been a bit too early for Joe to fight Collins. Saying that it would of been a real pick em fight. Also see Steve Collins v Roy Jones Jnr is made. Collins retired because he couldnt get this fight when he was fighting and always called for it but Roy Jones Jnr ran away from this fight time and time again.

I was lucky enough to be in the Kronk one summer's day when Naz and his enormous entourage rolled in.

The thing that struck me was how strong his legs were, he had massive thighs for a lad his size and was doing these amazing plyometrics as part of his warm up.

And he was an absolutely top lad to talk to, no real ego just a genuinely nice lad.

His talent was only ever gonna take him so far before Ingle's "keep your hands wherever you want to" policy was found out at the very highest level but what a talent he was

-- Tue Jan 22, 2013 8:08 pm --

The mooted Collins v Jones fight is merely a contest to see who's the most middle aged.

In their prime it would truly have been an insult to Jones to mention the workmanlike Collins in the same sentence.

Yeah I dont think we will ever see another Naz coming from the UK he was so good when he was on top form. Kind of hoping that Kell Brook wins the Alexander fight in the US a few weeks away as it would be great for the Ingles to have another World Champion from there gym. Nice story as Kell used to always watch Naz when he was training in the gym when he was a nipper now Naz does be ringside for his fights.
