The Boxing thread

Gutted for Brook, had a feeling Devon was up to something, hope they still get it on! Brooks like a caged animal at the moment, I've never seen him in this shape even with three weeks to go. Wanted him to smash Alexander and become a genuine champ. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if Devon vacates though.
 
Bored of Mayweather and his cherry picking at this point, plenty of more exciting fighters who deserve more attention.
 
I can see why Alexander has gone for his big pay day with Money. I can also see why Money is fighting Alexander as well. Bradley has a fight with Provodnikov , Martinez has a fight with Martin Murray.
Saul Alvarez well his team wont go near Money until Money is on the way out or showing signs of that. I was hoping for that fight but sadly not by the looks of it.
Pacman no point 2 defeats on the trot just no point also could end up fight Marquez again by the looks of it if both continue to fight.
My Wildcard would of been Austin Trout who beat Cotto in his last fight but I just dont know if Money fancies moving up a weight division to fight or take the easier option and stay in his weight and fight Alexander.

I feel for Kell as I honestly see Kell having a great chance over Alexander. Saying that it might open up a big pay day for Kell and a all British fight with Amir Khan which I think Kell has enough about him to beat Amir which would put him up in the rankings for any big fights if he does it well.
 
Mayweather could be fighting Junior Witter and you'd still defend it leighton.

He's had 6 months to pick a fight, stop acting like he's being forced to fight Devon Alexander because there's no-one else available haha.

It's a joke fight and Floyd is rightly being criticized by his own fans for it.

Floyd will always have his haters no matter what. I am not defending his choice of fighters but I can see with the bigger names all fighting theres not a lot you can do about it. Why not moan about Mathinez fighting Martin Murray or Bradley for his fight?? Yet because its Money you will moan about him not fighting whoever it is.

Conor who would you want to see Money fight. The Pacman fight is gone. So who should he go for as a fight. Money is going to go down with greats that have laced them up no matter what you think he is technically 1 of the best I have ever seen.

Of course you're defending his choice of opponent haha. As for Floyd having his 'haters', as I've said, go to the Boxing forums and look at how his own fans are berating him.

Martinez would happily fight anyone from 154-160 and that includes Mayweather, as he's said in the past.

Bradley I couldn't really give a fuck about, can't get a decent fight at welterweight because he couldn't sell out a phonebox (neither can Alexander though, so maybe Floyd should fight the guy that actually won the fight between those 2). He'd jump at a Floyd fight.

Who would I rather see him fight than Devon Alexander? Let's see...

Bradley

Matthyse
Cotto again

I'd rather not see him fight anyone aside from the first 3 and just go back into retirement, because they are all shit predictable fights. Still better fights than Alexander though. It even manages to be a horrible clash of styles.

There isn't a single justifiable reason for Floyd to fight him and to say that he's fighting Alexander because he's the only available opponent after having 6 months to choose someone is quite frankly, embarrassing.
 
The rumour was that he was lining up Canelo for September as it's another Mexican holiday i believe.

Not like Floyd to fight twice in 6 months though is it.

I see no point in a Trout or Alexander fight as there's no draw/star appeal in the opponent there. Bradley is marginally better but he doesn't have much of a fan base.

His other options i'd prefer to see are Canelo now, Garcia moving up although i don't really rate Garcia, Matthysse would perhaps be preferable at this point if not Canelo simply becuase he is a dangerous puncher and there's always that 1 punch fight changer potential.
 
theres only 1 fight id like to see mayweather have and thats canelo, he beats all the others easily so im not to fussed who he fights out of the rest in the run up to that one
 
Golden boy wont rush Canelo in with Money. I am guessing that might be Moneys last fight. A changing of the guard type of fight. They could well have anyone fighting Money and it will be the same result as he is just a level above most fighters.

As for a Marthinez fight I just think for Money it might well be a step too far for him to go up and do well and troble Marthinez. It would be a great fight to see but it would be more of Money trying to use his boxing to win as he wouldnt have the power to stop Mathinez at that weight level. I wouldnt mind seeing Marthinez v Chavez Jnr again.
